The General Secretary advised the youth to love the country and the regime.

On the morning of December 29, attending and speaking at the 7th National Congress of the Vietnam Youth Union, term 2014-2019, in Hanoi, the General Secretary, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, welcomed and commended the results of the youth movement and activities of all levels of the Youth Union nationwide in recent times, especially in the term 2010-2014.

Youth is placed at the center of the strategy of training and promoting human resources and factors. Caring for and developing youth is both the goal and the driving force to ensure the stability and sustainable development of the country.

To successfully achieve the goal of building and developing the country, it is necessary to further promote the vanguard role of youth as a large, young, and potential social force. That requires the Vietnam Youth Union and its member organizations to continue to innovate the content and methods of operation, improve the quality and effectiveness of revolutionary action movements, expand the solidarity front, and gather young people.

The General Secretary pointed out that one of the most important and overarching tasks of the Vietnam Youth Union in the coming years is to continue to build and strengthen the great solidarity bloc, widely gather all classes of youth, ensure unity in ideology and action, and strive to effectively implement the Party's guidelines and policies and the State's laws.

National history has proven: Any job, no matter how big or small, no matter how difficult or arduous, if there is unity, solidarity and joint efforts, it will certainly be successful. Today, when the country is changing strongly, the Youth Union must be the common home of many youth classes, widely gathering young people to realize the goals and ideals that the Party and Uncle Ho have determined.

The Vietnam Youth Union needs to continue working with the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union to do a good job of educating and orienting young people, contributing to building a new generation of young people with heart, intelligence, talent, self-respect and self-control.

The General Secretary pointed out that having a "heart" means having patriotism, loving the regime; loving oneself and one's family; living a cultured, meaningful, compassionate life, for the benefit of all. Having "intelligence" means having knowledge, being solid in expertise and profession; understanding history, economics, culture, society...

Having "talent" means having the ability to work, the ability to be creative; daring to think, knowing how to do, researching and mastering modern science and technology.

"Self-respect" is being conscious of preserving the personality and good image of oneself, of the community, of the country; knowing how to preserve and promote traditional values ​​of the nation.

"Self-control" means having the ability to think independently and master oneself; having "resistance," knowing how to select good and right things; studying, working, and contributing with one's own abilities, not being affected by bad, toxic, and negative plots and behaviors.

To do that, the General Secretary requested that the programs and activities of the Association must appropriately approach the interests of the organization and the needs of the youth, in accordance with the characteristics and personalities of the youth; promptly grasp, forecast and orient the thoughts of the youth; propagate so that the youth understand and fight against the plots and tricks of "peaceful evolution" of hostile forces; promote the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style; help the youth form and nurture great dreams and ambitions. Each youth himself/herself needs to be self-conscious, make efforts to study, cultivate, practice, strive to improve himself/herself and take on important tasks in the new period.

The Vietnam Youth Union needs to have appropriate forms and measures to help young people experience and mature through revolutionary action movements.

In the current period, when the country is innovating, opening up and integrating deeply, it is necessary to perceive and resolve dialectically and harmoniously the relationships between qualities and abilities; ideals and interests; dedication and enjoyment; personal interests and collective interests...; one should not simplify or absolutize any aspect.

That means we must promote the pioneering role, creativity, and volunteer spirit, awaken the great potential of young people, encourage young people to take the lead in implementing the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country, and excellently complete political and professional tasks in each locality and unit; at the same time, we must take great care of the material and spiritual life of young people, create an environment and favorable conditions for young people to contribute, strive, train themselves, and find a noble meaning in life for themselves.

The General Secretary reminded that it is necessary to focus on consolidating and building a strong Association organization, focusing on improving the quality of members; activities of branches, groups, teams, and groups; building a core cadre force among members and youth; consolidating and improving the quality of organization and activities of collective members of the Association.

The Vietnam Youth Union, as a broad social organization of youth, needs to actively propagate, mobilize and organize youth to participate in building the Party, government and people's organizations.

The General Secretary emphasized that the Party, State and people always place their trust and expectations on the young generation; hoping that generations of young people will continue the tradition of previous generations, firmly follow the path chosen by the Party, Uncle Ho and our people, and contribute the most to the cause of innovation, building and defending the socialist Fatherland in the new period.

The General Secretary requested that Party committees at all levels, Party organizations, government agencies, unions and the whole society regularly pay attention, direct, help, create all favorable conditions and a healthy social environment for the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Vietnam Youth Union to operate more and more effectively, helping the young generation to strive to study, practice, strive, constantly progress, mature, and contribute their strength and intelligence to the glorious revolutionary cause of the country.

Also at the Congress, in his opening speech, First Secretary of the Central Youth Union, President of the Vietnam Youth Union, term VI Nguyen Dac Vinh emphasized that during the 2010-2014 term, the Union has made strong strides in organization and activities, increasingly getting closer to the youth, becoming a close and trusted friend of the youth.

The Association's chapters, members and youth have made great efforts and creativity in implementing the Association's three campaigns and two major programs and have achieved many outstanding results.

The core political role of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in the Vietnam Youth Union is increasingly evident, contributing to improving the quality of the Union's activities.

Many activities of the Association have had a wide influence, contributing to enriching the revolutionary action movements of Vietnamese youth, and have been recognized by the Party, State, all levels, sectors, localities and the whole society.

With the slogan of action: "Vietnamese Youth - Solidarity, courage, intelligence, initiative, volunteerism for the goal of a rich people, strong country, democracy, equality, civilization," the Congress determined in the 7th term to build a strong Vietnam Youth Union organization, expand the front to gather and unite the youth.

Building a generation of Vietnamese youth who are patriotic and self-reliant; steadfast in the ideals of national independence and socialism; with revolutionary ethics, awareness of law observance, cultured life, for the community; capable and courageous in international integration; with health, knowledge, skills and industrial style in collective labor, becoming good citizens of the country.

To build a strong Vietnam Youth Union, with practical and effective activities, promoting the capacity, intelligence and youthfulness of the youth in the cause of building and defending the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland. To care for and meet the legitimate needs and aspirations of the youth. To build a team of Union cadres with strong political will, pure ethics, proficient skills, expertise and understanding of the youth.

To achieve the mission, the 7th Congress determined the need to strongly innovate the Association's operating methods, creating an environment for young people to voluntarily study, practice, cultivate, and strive to become good citizens, live honestly, responsibly, with determination and dedication.

Focus on orienting the youth through advanced models, good people, good deeds, and exemplary individuals. Create an environment for youth to contribute through effectively implementing the activities and programs of the Association. Encourage, motivate, and promote the spirit of initiative, volunteerism, youth, intelligence, and creativity to fulfill their duties well, and contribute to the homeland and country.

Diversify models and methods of gathering and uniting youth in a way that meets the development level, interests, aspirations and legitimate needs of youth. Continue to consolidate and improve the quality of activities of the Vietnam Youth Union and its collective members, expand the youth solidarity front; pay attention to and care for the legitimate rights and interests of youth.

The 7th National Congress of the Vietnam Youth Union launched the movement "I love my Fatherland" among youth nationwide and focused on strengthening and developing the Union organization, expanding the solidarity front, and gathering youth.
