The General Secretary urged young people to have patriotism and love for the regime.

On the morning of December 29th, attending and speaking at the 7th National Congress of the Vietnam Youth Union, term 2014-2019, in Hanoi, the General Secretary, on behalf of the Party and State leadership, welcomed and commended the achievements of the youth movement and the activities of the Youth Union at all levels nationwide in the past period, especially during the 2010-2014 term.

Youth are placed at the center of the strategy for nurturing and developing human resources. Caring for and developing youth is both a goal and a driving force ensuring the stability and sustainable development of the country.

To successfully achieve the goals of national construction and development, it is necessary to further promote the pioneering role of youth as a large, young, and potentially rich social force. This requires the Vietnam Youth Union and its member organizations to continue innovating the content and methods of their activities, improving the quality and effectiveness of revolutionary action movements, and expanding the front of solidarity and mobilization of youth.

The General Secretary pointed out that one of the overarching and most important tasks of the Vietnam Youth Union in the coming years is to continue building and strengthening the great unity, broadly gathering all strata of youth, ensuring unity in thought and action, and striving to effectively implement the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws and regulations.

The history of our nation has proven that any task, big or small, difficult or arduous, will certainly be accomplished successfully if there is unity, solidarity, and concerted effort. Today, as the country is undergoing a strong transformation, the Vietnam Youth Union must be an even stronger common home for the broad masses of young people, uniting them to realize the goals and ideals set forth by the Party and President Ho Chi Minh.

The Vietnam Youth Union needs to continue working with the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union to do a good job of educating and guiding young people, contributing to building a new generation of young people who are morally upright, intelligent, talented, self-respecting, and independent.

The General Secretary pointed out that having "heart" means having patriotism and love for the regime; loving oneself and one's family; living a cultured, compassionate, and benevolent life for the benefit of others. Having "intellectual capacity" means having knowledge, being proficient in one's profession and expertise; understanding history, economics, culture, and society...

Having "talent" means having the ability to work, the capacity for creativity; daring to think, knowing how to do, exploring and mastering modern science and technology.

"Self-respect" means consciously preserving one's own character and positive image, as well as that of the community and the country; knowing how to preserve and promote the traditional values ​​of the nation.

"Self-reliance" means having the ability to think independently and be in control of oneself; possessing "resistance," knowing how to select what is good and right; learning, working, and contributing using one's own abilities, without being influenced by malicious, harmful, and negative schemes and behaviors.

To achieve this, the General Secretary requested that the Youth Union's programs and activities appropriately balance the interests of the organization with the needs of young people, in accordance with their characteristics and personalities; promptly grasp, predict, and guide the thoughts of young people; disseminate information to help young people understand and fight against the schemes and tactics of "peaceful evolution" by hostile forces; promote the study and emulation of Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality, and style; and help young people form and nurture great dreams and aspirations. Each young person must be self-aware, diligently study, cultivate, train, and strive to improve themselves, perfect their skills, and shoulder important responsibilities in the new era.

The Vietnam Youth Union needs appropriate forms and methods to help young people experience and mature through revolutionary action movements.

In the current period, as the country is undergoing reform, opening up, and deep integration, it is necessary to understand and resolve, in a dialectical and harmonious way, the relationships between qualities and abilities; ideals and interests; contribution and reward; individual interests and collective interests...; one should not oversimplify or absolutize any one aspect.

This means simultaneously promoting the pioneering, creative, and volunteer spirit of young people, unleashing their immense potential, and encouraging them to take the lead in the industrialization and modernization of the country, and to excellently fulfill political and professional tasks in each locality and unit; at the same time, it is necessary to take utmost care of the material and spiritual lives of young people, creating a favorable environment and conditions for them to contribute, strive, self-improve, and find a noble purpose in life.

The General Secretary reminded that it is necessary to focus on consolidating and building a strong Youth Union organization, with the main focus being on improving the quality of members; the activities of branches, groups, teams, and teams; building a core force of cadres among members and young people; and consolidating and improving the quality of the organization and activities of the collective members of the Youth Union.

The Vietnam Youth Union, as a broad social organization of young people, needs to actively propagate, mobilize, and organize young people to participate in building the Party, government, and people's organizations.

The General Secretary emphasized that the Party, the State, and the people always place their trust, love, and expectations in the younger generation; hoping that successive generations of young people will continue the traditions of their forefathers, steadfastly follow the path chosen by the Party, President Ho Chi Minh, and our people, and contribute the most to the cause of renovation, building, and defending the socialist Fatherland in the new era.

The General Secretary requested that Party committees, Party organizations, government agencies, mass organizations, and the entire society regularly pay attention to, guide, and assist, creating all favorable conditions and a healthy social environment for the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Vietnam Youth Union to operate more effectively, helping the younger generation to strive to study, train, and make continuous progress, mature, and contribute their strength and intellect to the glorious revolutionary cause of the country.

Also at the Congress, in his opening speech, the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Youth Union and President of the Vietnam Youth Union, 6th term, Nguyen Dac Vinh, emphasized that during the 2010-2014 term, the Union had made strong progress in organization and activities, getting closer to young people and becoming a close and trusted friend of youth.

The various levels of the Youth Union, its members, and young people have made many efforts and shown creativity in implementing the Union's three major campaigns and two programs, achieving many outstanding results.

The core political role of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in relation to the Vietnam Youth Union is becoming increasingly evident, contributing to improving the quality of the Union's activities.

Many of the Association's activities have had a wide-ranging impact, contributing to enriching the revolutionary action movements of Vietnamese youth, and have been recognized by the Party, the State, all levels, sectors, localities, and the entire society.

With the action slogan: "Vietnamese Youth - Unity, courage, intelligence, pioneering spirit, volunteerism for the goal of a prosperous people, a strong nation, democracy, fairness, and civilization," the Congress determined that during the 7th term, it would build a strong Vietnam Youth Union organization and expand the front for gathering and uniting young people.

The goal is to build a generation of Vietnamese youth who are deeply patriotic and self-reliant; steadfast in their ideals of national independence and socialism; possessing revolutionary ethics, a sense of law abidance, a cultured lifestyle, and a commitment to the community; capable and resilient in international integration; healthy, knowledgeable, skilled, and possessing an industrial work ethic in collective labor, becoming good citizens of the country.

To build a strong Vietnam Youth Union that operates practically and effectively, fostering the capabilities, intellect, and youthful energy of young people in the cause of building and protecting the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland. To care for and meet the legitimate needs and aspirations of young people. To build a team of Union officials with firm political convictions, impeccable ethics, proficient skills and expertise, and a deep understanding of youth.

To achieve its mission, the 7th Congress determined that it was necessary to strongly innovate the working methods of the Association, creating an environment for young people to voluntarily study, train, cultivate themselves, and strive to become good citizens, living honestly, responsibly, with determination and dedication.

Focus on guiding young people through exemplary role models, good deeds, and outstanding individuals. Create an environment for young people to contribute through the effective implementation of the Association's activities and programs. Encourage, motivate, and promote the spirit of initiative, volunteerism, youthful energy, intelligence, and creativity to successfully fulfill their personal duties and contribute to their homeland and country.

Diversify models and methods of gathering and uniting young people in a way that meets their developmental levels, interests, aspirations, and legitimate needs. Continue to strengthen and improve the quality of activities of the Vietnam Youth Union and its collective members, expand the front of youth solidarity and mobilization; and pay attention to protecting the legitimate rights and interests of young people.

The 7th National Congress of the Vietnam Youth Union launched the "I Love My Homeland" movement among young people nationwide and focused on consolidating and developing the Union's organization, expanding the front of solidarity, and gathering young people.
