Martyr Pham Hong Thai (1895-1924), native of Hung Nhan commune, now Chau Nhan commune, Hung Nguyen district, Nghe An province, was a Vietnamese patriot who sacrificed his life in Guangzhou on June 19, 1924.

Soldier Pham Hong Thai was assigned to assassinate Governor-General of Indochina Henry Merlin when he visited the Sa Dien concession. Failing to do so, Pham Hong Thai threw himself into the Pearl River, determined not to fall into the enemy's hands.

The "Shadian Bombing" incident shocked China at that time, contributing to encouraging the national liberation movement that was rising throughout Asia. Respecting and admiring the spirit of self-sacrifice of soldier Pham Hong Thai, the people of Guangzhou buried him on Nhi Vong Cuong hill.

Next, General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, along with the Vietnamese delegation, visited the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association Headquarters Relic Site at house number 13, now 248 and 250, Van Minh Street, Guangzhou City.

General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife and the delegation were moved when viewing photos recording the years of President Ho Chi Minh's activities in Guangzhou.

The Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association Headquarters Relic is a place associated with President Ho Chi Minh's revolutionary career in Guangzhou from 1924 to 1927.

The Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association, the predecessor of the Communist Party of Vietnam, was founded by Nguyen Ai Quoc and published the Thanh Nien newspaper, the mouthpiece of the Association's Central Committee. Here, Nguyen Ai Quoc opened three political training classes, training Vietnamese revolutionary cadres, with a total of 75 people.

In 1971, China decided to preserve house number 13 Van Minh Street as a memorial site of President Ho Chi Minh, named "Headquarters of the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association".

The site is managed by the Guangdong Museum of Revolutionary History and is classified as a National Historical and Cultural Relic of China.

In 2024, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's revolutionary activities in Guangzhou, the Relic Site held the exhibition "Comrade Ho Chi Minh in Guangzhou". The exhibition recreates the glorious history and noble demeanor of President Ho Chi Minh with international friends, telling the story of the two Communist Parties of Vietnam and China - a vivid story of revolutionary friendship between the people of the two countries.
