General Secretary, President and his wife presided over the welcoming ceremony for the President and his wife of Mozambique

On the morning of September 9, at the Presidential Palace, General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife Ngo Phuong Ly hosted a ceremony to welcome the President of Mozambique, his wife and the Mozambican delegation to Vietnam.

At the invitation of General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife Ngo Phuong Ly, Mozambique President Filipe Jacinto Nyusi and his wife Isaura Ferrao Nyusi are paying an official visit to Vietnam from September 8-10.

On the morning of September 9, the official welcoming ceremony for the President of Mozambique and his wife was solemnly held at the Presidential Palace.

At exactly 9:30 a.m., the reception convoy, escorted by a guide car and security car, brought the President of Mozambique, his wife and the delegation into the Presidential Palace.

The motorcade stopped on the red carpet, with welcoming music, General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife Ngo Phuong Ly shook hands and welcomed President Filipe Jacinto Nyusi and his wife Isaura Ferrao Nyusi to visit Vietnam.

Hanoi children gave flowers and waved to the Mozambique delegation.

Next, General Secretary and President To Lam respectfully invited the President to step up to the podium. Military band played the national anthems of both countries. After that, the two leaders walked forward to salute the Vietnamese flag.

General Secretary and President To Lam invited Mozambique President Filipe Jacinto Nyusi to review the Guard of Honor of the Vietnam People's Army.

Afterwards, the two leaders greeted the members of the delegations from both countries attending the welcoming ceremony. After the official welcoming ceremony, the two leaders returned to the podium and witnessed the welcoming parade of the Guard of Honor.

Immediately after the welcoming ceremony, the two leaders held talks.

President Filipe Jacinto Nyusi is expected to meet and hold talks with other senior leaders of Vietnam, and visit and work with a number of prominent businesses, educational, cultural and historical institutions.

The two sides also signed a number of important cooperation documents in areas where both sides have needs, potential and strengths.

Previously, Mozambique President Filipe Jacinto Nyusi and his delegation laid wreaths and visited President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum; and laid wreaths at the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs on Bac Son Street.

Vietnam and Mozambique established diplomatic relations on June 25, 1975, the day Mozambique declared independence. The traditional friendship between the two countries originated and grew from mutual support in the struggle for national independence as well as in the cause of socio-economic development in each country.

This is President Filipe Jacinto Nyusi's first visit to Vietnam since taking office and the first visit to Vietnam by a Mozambican President in more than 17 years.

Taking place in the context of the two countries celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (1975-2025), President Filipe Jacinto Nyusi's visit is even more significant, marking a milestone in the positive development of bilateral relations.

Vietnam and Mozambique have a traditional friendship and maintain good relations through Party and State channels; regularly exchange delegations and high-level contacts; actively coordinate and support each other at multilateral international forums.

In 2023, bilateral trade turnover reached 546.4 million USD, of which Vietnam exported 127 million USD, mainly rice, fertilizers, and diversified goods, and imported 419.4 million USD, mainly coal of all kinds (346 million USD) and cashew nuts (59 million USD).
