In the atmosphere of the whole country celebrating Spring and the 92nd birthday of the Communist Party of Vietnam, on the morning of January 29 (ie December 27, Tan Suu year), at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong met and extended New Year greetings to leaders and former leaders of the Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front, leaders of some central agencies and Hanoi, compatriots and soldiers nationwide, and overseas Vietnamese.

In his New Year's greetings, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong stated that our country has just gone through the year of Tan Suu - 2021, the first year of organizing and implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress with many important, vibrant and rich events. In the context of the world and domestic situation with many difficulties and challenges, serious epidemics and natural disasters, leaving very serious consequences, but with the efforts, persistent struggles, will, mettle and creativity of the entire Party, people and army, we have united as one, overcome difficulties and challenges, achieved many important and quite comprehensive results and achievements in all fields, both effectively preventing and fighting the COVID-19 pandemic and focusing on maintaining, restoring and developing the socio-economy.

“The results and achievements gained over the past year are the result of the great efforts and endeavors of our compatriots and comrades nationwide under the correct and close leadership of the Party, the active and effective management and administration of the State, central ministries, branches, party committees at all levels, and local authorities; they are a testament to the mettle, intelligence and strength of the great solidarity bloc of the entire Vietnamese people,” the General Secretary emphasized.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong sent his thanks and best wishes to the cadres, soldiers, doctors and nurses on the front lines who are fighting the pandemic day and night and protecting the sovereignty of the territory, seas and sacred islands of the Fatherland, protecting the health, lives and peace of the people, especially in the prevention and control of the epidemic in recent times; expressed his remembrance and gratitude to the heroes, martyrs, wounded and sick soldiers; sympathized with the families whose relatives died due to the pandemic; thanked international organizations and friendly countries near and far for their cooperation, help and support in the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland of our people.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong pointed out that 2022 is a pivotal year for implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the 5-year Socio-Economic Development Plan 2021 - 2025. The international and domestic situation has many opportunities and advantages, but also poses many difficulties and challenges, requiring the entire Party, people and army to make every effort to achieve the set goals to successfully complete the tasks of 2022.

The focus is on striving to complete at the highest level the tasks of economic and social recovery and development; stabilizing the macro economy, focusing on removing difficulties for production and business activities. Continuing to develop the fields of culture, education - training, science - technology; protecting the environment, adapting to climate change, ensuring social security and social welfare, improving people's lives. Strengthening Party building and rectification, building a socialist rule-of-law state and a clean and strong political system; administrative reform, judicial reform, preventing and combating corruption, negativity, waste, practicing thrift. Strengthening national defense and security, protecting independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, ensuring political security, social order and safety and maintaining a peaceful and stable environment for rapid and sustainable national development. Comprehensively and synchronously deploy foreign affairs and international integration in the spirit of maximizing internal resources, taking advantage of external resources, and improving the effectiveness of international cooperation.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong suggested continuing to control and prevent the epidemic, "Adapt safely, flexibly, and effectively control the COVID-19 epidemic" to recover and develop the economy and society faster and more sustainably. Party committees, authorities, and localities need to be proactive in all situations, have timely response plans to new emerging strains of the pandemic; absolutely must not be subjective, let passivity and surprises happen; boost production and business; take care of the lives of people, officers, and soldiers on duty at the border, sea, and islands, protecting the Fatherland; overcome the consequences of natural disasters and epidemics; take care of people to have a happy and peaceful Tet.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong requested that our entire Party, people and army need to strengthen solidarity, unite even more, and be even more determined; join hands and unite, promote the spirit of patriotism, Vietnamese mettle and intelligence, and the nation's cultural traditions; strive to overcome all difficulties and challenges, turn favorable opportunities into reality, and build our country to be increasingly prosperous and happy.

In the atmosphere of welcoming the New Year and celebrating the 92nd anniversary of the founding of the glorious Communist Party of Vietnam, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong wished the revolutionary cause of our people to achieve even greater victories, with greater victories in 2022, faster and more sustainable development than in 2021; wishing our Party and our country's political system to become increasingly clean and strong in all aspects; our country to develop more and more prosperously; our people to become more and more prosperous; every family to be joyful and every person to be happy.
