The General Secretary congratulates General Vo Nguyen Giap on his birthday.

On the occasion of the 103rd birthday of General Vo Nguyen Giap (August 25, 1911 - August 25, 2013), former Politburo member, former Deputy Prime Minister, and former Minister of National Defense, on the afternoon of August 24, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong visited, presented gifts, and offered birthday wishes to General Vo Nguyen Giap.

Accompanying him was Mr. Tran Quoc Vuong, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and Chief of the Central Office.

In the heroic atmosphere of celebrating the 68th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2nd, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong expressed his respect for General Vo Nguyen Giap, the first Commander-in-Chief of the Vietnam People's Army, the elder brother of the heroic Vietnamese People's Armed Forces.

The General Secretary wished the General good health, a long life, and that he would forever remain a shining example and a source of pride for the Vietnam People's Army.

On this occasion, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong commended and thanked the professors, doctors, and medical staff of the Central Military Hospital 108 for their meticulous treatment and care of the General's health; and expressed his hope that the hospital's staff and medical professionals would continue to provide even better care so that the General would remain healthy and live a long life.

On the same day, a delegation from the Ministry of National Defense, led by Mr. Phung Quang Thanh, Member of the Political Bureau and Minister of National Defense; and a delegation from Hanoi City, led by Mr. Pham Quang Nghi, Member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee, visited, presented gifts, and offered birthday wishes to General Vo Nguyen Giap.
