General Secretary and people offer incense to commemorate Hung Kings

This morning, April 16 (March 10 of the lunar calendar), General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Mr. Nguyen Van Binh - Politburo member, Head of the Central Economic Commission; leaders of central ministries and branches, leaders of Phu Tho province and tens of thousands of people offered incense and offerings to commemorate the Hung Kings at the Hung Temple Historical Relic Site (Phu Tho).

Beginning of the incense offering ceremony in memory of the Hung Kings at the Upper Temple yard

Since early this morning (April 16), crowds of people have flocked to the Central Courtyard of the Hung Kings Temple Historical Site (Phu Tho), lining up in two rows to watch the Incense Offering Ceremony in memory of the Hung Kings by Party and State leaders.

At exactly 7:00 a.m., the incense offering ceremony to commemorate and pay tribute to the Hung Kings at the Hung Temple relic site solemnly took place.

The delegation of delegates moved from the foot of Nghia Linh mountain through Nghi Mon - Ha temple - Trung temple - to Thuong temple. Leading the delegation were soldiers of the Vietnam People's Army carrying the national flag and the festival flag. Next were 14 young women carrying incense, flowers, offerings and 100 young men carrying the festival flag symbolizing the image of "Dragon's children, Fairy's grandchildren" representing the origin of the nation.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Chinh - Deputy Director of the Department of Information and Communications of Phu Tho province said that in order to gradually move towards the Hung Temple Festival and Hung Kings' Commemoration Day as a model festival in the whole country, Phu Tho province is implementing the Prime Minister's project that all provinces and cities across the country simultaneously offer incense to commemorate the Hung Kings. To do this, Phu Tho province had a working session with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to unify the content. And today (March 10th of the lunar calendar), at exactly 7:00 a.m., all provinces and cities across the country where there are Hung Kings' temples, generals and their wives and children from the Hung Kings' era simultaneously offer incense to commemorate the Hung Kings. At the same time, all localities in Phu Tho province where there are Hung Kings' temples, generals and their wives and children from the Hung Kings' era also offer incense. The incense offering ritual in the localities is the same as at the main place of worship at the Hung Temple Historical Relic Site (Phu Tho).
