General Secretary urges strict handling of Trinh Xuan Thanh case

Last week, the Party Central Office announced the direction of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on the next steps to be taken after the announcement of the Central Inspection Committee's conclusion on Mr. Trinh Xuan Thanh.

The General Secretary requested the Central Organizing Committee, the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and the leaders of the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group, the Standing Committee of the Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee, the Party Committee of the Ministry of Home Affairs with the participation of the Central Inspection Committee to organize a review, clarify responsibilities and handle relevant collectives and individuals regarding shortcomings and violations as stated in Conclusion Notice No. 89 of the Central Inspection Committee.

The Central Organizing Committee shall preside over and coordinate with the Central Inspection Committee and relevant agencies to review and evaluate regulations and procedures on personnel work to amend and supplement them to ensure consistency and strictness.

The General Secretary also requested the Party Committee of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Central Emulation and Reward Committee with the participation of the Central Inspection Committee to organize a review, clarify responsibilities and handle collectives and individuals with shortcomings and violations in the appraisal and proposal to competent authorities to award the Labor Medal for two consecutive years (2009 and 2010) and confer the title of Labor Hero on the Vietnam Oil and Gas Construction Joint Stock Corporation (2011).

Regarding the violation of a loss of nearly 3,300 billion VND (2011 - 2013) at the Vietnam Oil and Gas Construction Joint Stock Corporation, the General Secretary assigned the Standing Committee of the Central Public Security Party Committee to direct the functional agencies of the public security sector to investigate and clarify.
