General Secretary: There are no forbidden areas in the fight against corruption.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong emphasized this point during his meeting with voters in Hanoi.

On the morning of December 6th, in Hanoi, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, a member of the 13th National Assembly, and other members of the Hanoi National Assembly delegation met with voters from Hoan Kiem and Ba Dinh districts, constituency number 1, to report on the results of the 8th session of the National Assembly, which had just taken place in Hanoi.

During the meeting, voters expressed their joy about the results and successes of the 8th session, notably the legislative work with the National Assembly passing 18 draft laws; 11 resolutions; giving opinions on 12 other draft laws; and deciding on many important national issues.

Voters also contributed many opinions on the activities of the National Assembly sessions, the National Assembly's oversight activities, the organization of elected bodies, the rapid implementation of laws; the protection of national sovereignty and territorial integrity, ensuring national security and defense; the fight against corruption; the case of Mr. Tran Van Truyen, former Inspector General of the Government; textbook reform; ensuring food safety and hygiene to protect public health…

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong thanked and acknowledged the heartfelt and responsible opinions of the voters, while emphasizing that with openness and democracy, the activities of the National Assembly are increasingly being followed, monitored, and supervised by the people nationwide. Through this, the people's role as masters under the leadership of the Party has been enhanced.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong addressed voters' concerns regarding confidence votes and no-confidence votes. A confidence vote is when the National Assembly and People's Councils exercise their oversight power to assess the level of confidence in officials elected or approved by the National Assembly and People's Councils, using a three-level scale. This serves as a basis for evaluating cadres. If the confidence vote is too low, a no-confidence vote will be conducted with two levels: confidence and no confidence, as a basis for dismissing or approving the dismissal of those who do not receive the confidence of the National Assembly and People's Councils.

Regarding the fight against corruption, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong stated: The Party and the State are determined to prevent and combat corruption and waste. The fight against corruption is carried out at all levels and there are no forbidden areas. However, it must be done in an appropriate and, most importantly, effective manner. The results have not been as desired because corruption is a very complex issue, requiring a step-by-step approach and strict, lawful handling. This is a long-term task.
