SUMMARY OF WORK EXPERIENCE
- 1928: Joined the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association
- 1930: Joined the Indochinese Communist Party
- 1931: Member of the Propaganda Department of the Northern Regional Party Committee; also in that year was arrested in Hai Phong, sentenced to 20 years in prison and imprisoned in Hoa Lo, Son La and Con Dao prisons.
- 1936: Released, continued revolutionary activities in Central Vietnam
- 1937: Secretary of the Central Region Party Committee
- 1939: Was appointed to the Central Committee of the Party, term I. At the end of 1939, together with comrade Nguyen Van Cu, the Party General Secretary chaired the 6th Central Conference, deciding to establish the Indochina Anti-Imperialist Front, replacing the Democratic Front, shifting the revolutionary struggle to a new period.
- 1940: Arrested by French colonialists in Saigon, sentenced to 10 years in prison and exiled to Con Dao for the second time
- After August 1945: Received by the Party and Government to return to the mainland, participated in the resistance war in the South
- 1946: Went to Hanoi, worked with President Ho Chi Minh
- 1946-1954: Held the position of Regional Party Committee, Secretary of the Central Office for Southern Vietnam
- 1951: At the 2nd Party Congress, he was elected to the Central Executive Committee and the Politburo.
- 1954-1957: Stayed in the South to lead the revolutionary movement
- Late 1957: The Central Committee assigned him to lead the Party's general work alongside President Ho.
- September 1960: At the 3rd Party Congress, he was re-elected to the Central Executive Committee and the Politburo, holding the positions of First Secretary of the Central Executive Committee and Secretary of the Central Military Commission.
- December 1976: At the 4th Party Congress, he was re-elected to the Central Executive Committee and appointed to the Politburo, holding the position of General Secretary.
- 3/1982: At the 5th Party Congress, he continued to be elected to the Central Executive Committee and was appointed to the Politburo, holding the position of General Secretary until 7/1986.
- July 10, 1986: Comrade passed away.
