General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong begins his visit to South Korea.
At 2 PM on October 1st (local time), which is 12 PM (Hanoi time), General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and the high-level delegation from Vietnam arrived in Seoul, the capital of the Republic of Korea, to begin their state visit at the invitation of South Korean President Park Geun-hye.

As General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong stepped off the plane, 21 cannon shots boomed to welcome the highest leader of our Party on his visit to South Korea, bringing to the country and people of South Korea the friendly and solidarity sentiments of the country and people of Vietnam.
Welcoming the General Secretary at the airport were South Korean Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se and the South Korean Ambassador to Vietnam. A large number of officials and staff from the Vietnamese Embassy, as well as representatives of the Vietnamese community and students in South Korea, holding the national flags of both countries, also came to welcome General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's state visit to South Korea will further consolidate and strengthen the friendly cooperative relationship between Vietnam and South Korea, making them truly important partners and sincere friends; meeting the requirements and interests of the people of both countries and in line with the general trends of the region and the world.
Immediately upon arriving in Seoul, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong received the Chairman of the Korea-Vietnam Friendship Association, Choi Young Joo; representatives of the two Ly clans of Vietnam, the Ly Tinh Thien clan and the Ly Hoa Son clan; and leaders of the Keangnam Group.

Later this afternoon, the General Secretary visited Samsung Group; and also visited and spoke with officials of the Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in South Korea.
