General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong: Innovate and do well in planning the new Central Executive Committee and Politburo

On the morning of February 7 (December 28, Quy Mao year), in the atmosphere of the whole country welcoming the Year of the Dragon 2024, celebrating the 94th birthday of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2024), at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong met and extended New Year greetings to leaders and former leaders of the Party, State, and Vietnam Fatherland Front.

Also attending were former General Secretary Nong Duc Manh; President Vo Van Thuong, former Presidents Truong Tan Sang and Nguyen Xuan Phuc; Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung; National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, former National Assembly Chairmen Nguyen Van An, Nguyen Sinh Hung and Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan; Standing member of the Secretariat Truong Thi Mai and former Standing members of the Secretariat; leaders and former leaders of the Party and State; representatives of central agencies and organizations and Hanoi City.

The country's new position and power continue to be enhanced.

Reviewing the country's situation in the year of Quy Mao - 2023, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong emphasized that with active and persistent efforts and struggles; will, mettle, resilience and creativity, our entire Party, people and army have united as one, overcome all difficulties and challenges, and achieved many important and comprehensive results and achievements in all fields.

Notably, the macro economy is basically stable; inflation is controlled; growth is positive, each quarter is higher than the previous quarter, 10/15 socio-economic development targets have been completed and over-fulfilled; innovation and national brand indexes have all increased,...

The implementation of strategic breakthroughs and economic restructuring associated with growth model innovation has been promoted. Culture and society have made breakthroughs and new progress; social security has been ensured; social welfare and people's lives have been increasingly improved and enhanced...

The work of building and rectifying the Party and the political system and preventing and combating corruption and negativity continued to be promoted, achieving many outstanding results.

Political and social stability, national defense and security are consolidated and enhanced, national sovereignty is maintained. Foreign affairs activities take place intensively, comprehensively, practically, effectively, achieving many important and historic achievements, contributing to consolidating and enhancing the role, potential, position and international prestige of Vietnam, which is a highlight of 2023.

The 7th and 8th Central Resolutions of the 13th Party Congress were promptly deployed to the grassroots level; the Sub-committees preparing for the 14th Party Congress are actively carrying out their tasks according to plan.

The consolidation of leadership positions of Party and State agencies and the planning of the 14th Party Central Committee for the 2026-2031 term were carried out closely, thoroughly, and cautiously in accordance with regulations and procedures, contributing to stabilizing the organization and apparatus, strengthening the Party's leadership, and creating high consensus within the Party and society.

The democratic atmosphere within the Party and in society is increasingly promoted, creating a combined strength; the country's new position and strength continue to be enhanced.

"The achievements over the past year are the result of the great efforts and endeavors of the entire Party, people and army under the wise and correct leadership of the Party; the active and effective management and administration of the State; the very responsible participation of the entire political system and the consensus and support of the entire people, and are a testament to the mettle, intelligence and strength of the great solidarity bloc of the entire Vietnamese people," the General Secretary affirmed.

New faith, new spirit and new motivation

The General Secretary noted that the year of Giap Thin - 2024 is a very important year in implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the 5-year socio-economic development plan (2021 - 2025) and towards the 14th National Party Congress with new confidence, new spirit and new motivation.

The international and domestic situation has many opportunities and advantages, but also poses many difficulties and challenges, requiring our entire Party, people and army to have high determination, great will, and strive to achieve the set goals to successfully complete the tasks of 2024.

Emphasizing the key points, the General Secretary requested to strive to complete socio-economic development tasks at the highest level; stabilize the macro-economy, and focus on removing difficulties for production and business activities.

Along with that, we continue to develop the fields of culture, education, science and technology; protect the environment, ensure social security and welfare, care for and improve people's lives.

At the same time, strengthen Party building and rectification, build a socialist rule-of-law State and a truly clean and strong political system; reform administration, judicial reform, prevent and combat corruption, negativity, waste, and practice thrift.

The General Secretary requested strengthening national defense and security, maintaining national independence and sovereignty, ensuring political security, social order and safety, and a peaceful and stable environment for rapid and sustainable national development. Comprehensively and synchronously deploying foreign affairs and deep international integration in the spirit of maximizing internal resources, taking advantage of external resources, and improving the effectiveness of international cooperation.

Besides, it is to build the great national unity bloc, strengthen the consensus and trust of the people in the Party.

The General Secretary also mentioned continuing to actively prepare for party congresses at all levels and the 14th National Party Congress; innovating and improving the planning work of the 14th Party Central Committee, Politburo, and Secretariat for the 2026-2031 term; and drafting documents to be submitted to the 14th Party Congress.

The immediate key tasks mentioned by the General Secretary are to overcome all difficulties, remove obstacles, boost production and business; care for the lives of people, officers and soldiers on duty to protect the Fatherland in border areas, seas and islands; care for and create conditions for people to celebrate Tet happily and healthily.

According to the General Secretary, to carry out the above-mentioned directions and tasks, our entire Party, people and army need to strengthen solidarity; once united, we must become even more united; once determined, we must become even more determined; join hands and unite, promote the spirit of patriotism, Vietnamese mettle and intelligence, the nation's cultural and heroic traditions; strive to overcome all difficulties and challenges, and turn favorable opportunities into realistic results.

"I wish the revolutionary cause of our Party and people to achieve even greater victories; 2024 to be even more victorious, develop faster and more sustainably than 2023. I wish our Party and the entire political system of our country to become increasingly clean and strong in all aspects; our country to become increasingly developed, prosperous, civilized and prosperous; our people to become increasingly well-off; every family to be joyful, every person to be happy, and everything to go smoothly," the General Secretary emphasized.
