General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong meets with the Politburo and Secretariat to review and discipline officials

After considering the proposal of the Central Inspection Commission, the Politburo and the Secretariat found that:

Mr. Le Duc Tho seriously violated the Party's regulations, the State's laws, the Regulations on what Party members are not allowed to do and the responsibility to set an example in declaring and making assets and income transparent; explaining the origin and changes of assets dishonestly and not in accordance with regulations. Mr. Le Duc Tho's violations were systematic, lasting for many years, causing very serious consequences, bad public opinion, anger, affecting the Party's reputation, and losing personal reputation.

During his tenure as a member of the Provincial Party Committee and Director of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Ha Nam province, Mr. Pham Gia Luat had degraded his political ideology, ethics and lifestyle; violated Party regulations, State laws, Regulations on what Party members are not allowed to do and responsibilities to set an example in implementing investment projects, managing and using finance, exploiting and consuming mineral resources. Mr. Pham Gia Luat's violations caused very serious consequences, causing great damage to the State budget, many cadres and Party members were criminally prosecuted, causing public outrage, negatively affecting the reputation of the Party organization and State management agencies in the locality.

Based on the content, nature, level, consequences, and causes of the violation; according to the Party's Regulations on Party organization and member discipline, the Politburo unanimously decided to propose that the Party Central Committee consider and discipline Mr. Le Duc Tho. The Secretariat decided to discipline Mr. Pham Gia Luat by expelling him from the Party.

The Politburo and Secretariat requested competent authorities to take timely administrative discipline in line with Party discipline.
