On the afternoon of September 3, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong warmly received Mr. Narendra Modi - Prime Minister of India, who is on an official visit to Vietnam.

Mr. Narendra Modi expressed his delight at visiting Vietnam for the first time as Prime Minister of India.

He thanked the General Secretary and Vietnamese leaders for their good feelings towards him and his delegation.

The Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and Vietnam will create new momentum for the development of the two countries as well as the whole region. The Indian Prime Minister said that the relationship between the two countries was formed 2000 years ago and has overcome all difficulties and challenges to continuously develop.

Affirming that Vietnam plays a pivotal role in India's "Act East" policy and appreciating Vietnam's support for India at international and regional forums, the Indian Prime Minister expressed his hope that the two sides would further strengthen delegation exchanges, party-to-party exchanges, and people-to-people exchanges (youth and women's unions, etc.) to further deepen the relationship between the two countries.

The General Secretary agreed with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's proposal that both sides should continue to increase delegation exchanges and high-level contacts; strengthen relations through both party channels and people's organizations; maintain and regularly organize existing cooperation mechanisms; promote cooperation in all fields to create a substantive change, bringing the bilateral relationship to the level of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership; carry out practical and effective activities to celebrate the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations and 10 years of the Strategic Partnership; thereby enhancing solidarity, friendship and mutual understanding between the people of Vietnam and India; continue to closely coordinate at regional and international forums such as the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement, the World Trade Organization, and relevant ASEAN forums./.
