General Secretary and Prime Minister receives Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation
On July 6, Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong - General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam; Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
On the morning of July 6, at the Party Central Committee headquarters, Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong - General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam received Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov for a courtesy visit during his visit to Vietnam.

Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov thanked General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong for taking the time to meet him and respectfully conveyed the greetings of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chairman of the United Russia Party Dmitry Medvedev to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
Expressing his joy at revisiting Vietnam, Minister Sergey Lavrov highly appreciated the political position and leadership role of the Communist Party of Vietnam in the country's development and foreign policy, including relations with the former Soviet Union and the Russian Federation today.
The fact that the relationship between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the United Russia Party and major political parties in Russia such as the Communist Party of the Russian Federation and the Just Russia Party shows that the foreign policy of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the relationship between the Party and the State of Vietnam with the Russian Federation are widely supported by political parties in Russia.
Minister Sergey Lavrov reported to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong the results of the talks and meetings during the visit on cooperation in various fields between the Russian Federation and Vietnam, affirmed the Russian Federation's importance to the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, supported ASEAN's central role in the region, thanked Vietnam for its contributions to promoting the Russian Federation - ASEAN relations over the past years and expressed Russia's views on international issues, including the conflict in Ukraine.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong mentioned the significance of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov's visit to Vietnam in the context of the two countries celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong discussed the important achievements that Vietnam has made in all aspects through the comprehensive renovation process, and Vietnam's position and prestige are respected in the international arena.
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong affirmed that Vietnam always appreciates and remembers the assistance of international friends, including the great and effective assistance of the Soviet Union and the Russian Federation in the resistance wars and national development over the years.
Within the framework of the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, diversification and multilateralization of foreign relations, Vietnam attaches importance to the comprehensive strategic partnership with the Russian Federation and cooperation between the two countries.
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong also discussed with Minister Sergey Lavrov Vietnam's viewpoint on international issues of mutual concern, in line with Vietnam's consistent foreign policy, including dialogue and negotiation to peacefully resolve international differences and disputes. Following that foreign policy and with the policy of being a friend, a trustworthy partner and an active, responsible member of the international community, Vietnam is ready to contribute to promoting peace, stability and international cooperation.
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong wished the visit of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov a great success, contributing to strengthening Vietnam-Russia relations and promoting the two countries' contributions to peace, stability and cooperation in Europe, Asia-Pacific and the world. Through Minister Sergey Lavrov, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong conveyed his regards to Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chairman of the United Russia Party Dmitry Medvedev.

At the reception, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov's visit to Vietnam coincided with the two countries' 10th anniversary of upgrading their relations to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (July 2012 - July 2022); highly appreciated the positive cooperation results achieved by the two sides in recent times.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his gratitude for the valuable support and assistance that people of countries, including the Russian Federation, have given to Vietnam in the past as well as in the cause of national construction and development today, most recently Russia's support for Vietnam in efforts to prevent and combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that the Vietnamese Government always attaches importance to the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Russia, and wishes to deepen and further effectively bilateral cooperation in all fields in a spirit of practicality, sincerity and trust.
The Prime Minister believes that Minister Lavrov's visit will be a great success, contributing to promoting cooperation opportunities between the two countries.

Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov expressed his pleasure to visit Vietnam, affirming that Russia always considers Vietnam an important partner in the region and wishes to further strengthen cooperation with Vietnam.
The two sides agreed to promote the implementation of high-level agreements reached during the visits of the two countries' leaders; affirmed to maintain the momentum of cooperation in traditional and strong areas of both sides.
The Prime Minister requested ministries and sectors of both sides to promptly remove difficulties in the fields of trade, investment, transportation, etc., continue to make efforts to effectively utilize the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union, creating favorable conditions for businesses of the two countries to expand cooperation; at the same time, promptly restore cooperation in culture, sports, tourism, education - training, people-to-people exchange, etc. in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic being controlled.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam is steadfast in its foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation and development, building an independent and self-reliant economy, actively and proactively integrating into the international community, and firmly protecting its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Prime Minister suggested that the two sides continue to organize the 24th Session of the Vietnam-Russia Intergovernmental Committee on Economic-Trade and Scientific-Technological Cooperation in Vietnam.

Minister Lavrov shared Russia’s stance on the Ukraine issue. On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh thanked Russia for actively supporting the evacuation of Vietnamese people in Ukraine in recent times.
Foreign Minister Lavrov highly appreciated Vietnam's stance, role and active and responsible contributions to peace, stability and cooperation in the region and the world, agreed on the importance of resolving disputes in the East Sea by peaceful means on the basis of international law, the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and hoped to soon reach a Code of Conduct in the East Sea COC.
The Prime Minister also thanked the Russian Government for its attention and creation of favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in Russia to live, work and study stably in Russia, especially during the recent difficult period of the pandemic.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh invited Russian Prime Minister Mishustin to visit Vietnam at a suitable time.
