General Secretary To Lam attends the launching ceremony of the Tree Planting Festival 'Forever grateful to Uncle Ho'
General Secretary To Lam advised that propaganda work must be focused on in many specific, vivid and practical forms so that the masses can understand the purpose and meaning of the Tree Planting Festival.
On the morning of January 31 (January 3, Year of the Snake), General Secretary To Lam attended the launching ceremony of the Tree Planting Festival "Forever grateful to Uncle Ho" Spring of the Snake 2025, at Dinh Tien Hoang De Square, Hoa Lu city, Ninh Binh province.
Attending the launching ceremony were Politburo members, Party Central Committee Secretaries: Head of the Party Central Committee's Internal Affairs Commission Phan Dinh Trac; Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Do Van Chien; Head of the Central Inspection Commission Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Chief of the Party Central Committee Office; General Luong Tam Quang - Politburo member, Minister of Public Security; Party Central Committee members: Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh; Party Central Committee members, leaders of the Party Central Committee Office; Office of the General Secretary and leaders of Ninh Binh province.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, General Secretary To Lam emphasized that more than 65 years ago, on November 28, 1959, President Ho Chi Minh wrote an article"Tree Planting Festival"published in Nhan Dan newspaper under the pen name Tran Luc, calling on everyone, every household, every organization, and every locality to actively compete in planting and caring for trees, analyzing the great significance and practical benefits of planting trees and afforestation.
He pointed out: "This work is inexpensive but has many benefits", "it is also a long-term but gentle competition that everyone from the elderly to children can enthusiastically participate in" and he suggested organizing a "Tree Planting Festival" throughout the country.
His call quickly became a widespread mass movement, receiving positive responses from all classes of people with a spirit of self-awareness and concrete actions.
The Lunar New Year of Canh Ty - 1960 was the first year to respond to President Ho Chi Minh's call for "Tree Planting Festival". The movements: "Tree Planting Festival", "Tree Planting Festival for the beloved South", "Tree Planting Festival to defeat the American invaders", and then today there is "Tree Planting Festival following Uncle Ho's teachings", "Tree Planting Festival forever grateful to Uncle Ho" are strong marks of the determination of our Party and people to learn and follow Uncle Ho's teachings.
Since then, every spring, "Tree Planting Festival" has truly become a festival for the entire Party, people and army. This is not only an activity with profound traditional meaning, but also a concrete and practical action to fulfill Vietnam's strong commitment to the international community and implement the national strategy on climate change, towards a green planet, for the rapid and sustainable development of the country.
The General Secretary acknowledged and highly appreciated the achievements that the Party Committee, government and people of Ninh Binh province have made in recent years, especially in preserving the heritage of the ancient capital Hoa Lu, maintaining and promoting the value of beautiful natural landscapes, and choosing a green, harmonious and sustainable development model.
The General Secretary stated that the 2021-2030 development plan for Ninh Binh province defines the goals and vision to 2030 as basically meeting the criteria, by 2035 becoming a centrally-run city with the characteristics of a millennium heritage urban area, a creative city; taking tourism, cultural industry, entertainment industry as key industry clusters; taking the automobile mechanical industry as the driving force; taking the application of scientific and technological achievements, innovation and digital transformation as breakthroughs; taking multi-value ecological agriculture as a pillar... This is the right orientation, allowing for the exploitation and promotion of the distinct potentials and competitive advantages of a locality possessing massive heritage resources, unique cultural values, and beautiful natural landscapes...
The General Secretary suggested that the province strive to become a typical model for green, harmonious and sustainable growth, based on the close combination of socio-economic development with the preservation of cultural heritage, environmental protection, natural landscapes, and the promotion of the application of scientific and technological achievements, innovation, digital transformation and green transformation.
All levels, sectors, households and individuals need to be aware of their responsibility to protect the ecological environment; extensive movements must be formed with the cooperation of the entire community. Each specific action such as planting trees, saving water, protecting forests, choosing a business model based on green transformation... all contribute to building a green Vietnam.
The General Secretary instructed that propaganda work must be focused on in many specific, vivid and practical forms so that the masses can understand the purpose and meaning of the Tree Planting Festival; the role, great effects, comprehensive and long-term benefits, and humanistic values of tree planting and afforestation; enthusiastically participate in the tree planting movement, raise awareness and have effective measures to protect forests, prevent deforestation, forest burning, and illegal forest exploitation; launch the Tree Planting Ceremony in accordance with the conditions of the locality, agency, and unit, ensuring practicality, efficiency, and economy, avoiding ostentation.
Ministries and sectors, especially the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, need to coordinate, strengthen supervision, and direct localities to effectively implement the tree planting movement. Authorities need to develop and implement policies to encourage people and businesses to participate in environmental protection projects, adapt to climate change, and take measures to restore the environmental landscape in places that have been damaged during the industrialization and urbanization process.
Along with that is perfecting the green transformation strategy in all areas of socio-economic life associated with innovation of growth models, restructuring the economy on the basis of applying scientific and technological achievements, promoting innovation, digital transformation, and protecting natural resources.
General Secretary To Lam believes that with its long-standing historical tradition, with the determination and solidarity of the entire Party, people and army, the movement "Tet tree planting to forever remember Uncle Ho" will continue to promote practical effectiveness, protect the ecological environment well to successfully implement the strategy of rapid and sustainable development when entering a new era - the era of striving for strong, prosperous development of the nation.
On the same morning, General Secretary To Lam and the delegation attended the inauguration ceremony of Le Duan Street and Van River Bridge, Hoa Lu City, Ninh Binh Province.
This is an important main axis connecting the East and West of Hoa Lu city, connecting the Hoa Lu Ancient Capital area with the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex heritage and the Eastern gateway, ensuring synchronous connection and traffic connection between Hoa Lu city and the North-South expressway, opening up space to promote urban development in the South of Hoa Lu city, as well as socio-economic development of Ninh Binh province.
Le Duan Street is nearly 3km long, with a scale of 6 lanes, and started construction in June 2022. Van River Bridge is 65m long, with a 6-lane traffic section synchronized with Le Duan Street, and started construction in March 2023. The total value of the construction volume of the two projects is 386 billion VND. To date, the projects have been completed, qualified for inauguration and put into use. These are both important traffic projects and highlights of urban landscape architecture.
Van River Bridge is designed with 2 arches: Bong Lau Arch with the idea of white Lau, reaching high to welcome the sunlight, shining on the majestic limestone mountains, which are typical of Hoa Lu land, the core area of Trang An heritage and associated with the image of Dinh Bo Linh practicing with the reed flag. Ma Yen Arch is associated with the image of majestic Ma Yen mountain with its natural curves, the place chosen by King Dinh Tien Hoang when he ascended the throne to build the ancient Hoa Lu capital.
These are key traffic works, selected by Ninh Binh province to put up signs welcoming the 23rd Congress of Ninh Binh Provincial Party Committee, term 2025-2030./
