General Secretary To Lam and President Luong Cuong receive President of the Cuban National Assembly
On the afternoon of November 2, General Secretary To Lam and President Luong Cuong received President of the Cuban National Assembly Esteban Lazo Hernandez, who is visiting Vietnam.
General Secretary To Lam welcomed and believed that the visit of the Cuban National Assembly Chairman would contribute significantly to promoting substantive and effective cooperation between the two countries.
Vietnam always values the close, exemplary comradely relationship, a rare one in international relations, which was cultivated by President Ho Chi Minh and Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro and generations of leaders of the two countries.
Vietnam is determined to strongly strengthen and enhance the effectiveness of comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, two countries and two peoples, for the interests of the two peoples, and for peace, stability and development in the world.
Sharing the difficulties that Cuba is trying to overcome due to the blockade, embargo, incidents and natural disasters, General Secretary To Lam affirmed that Vietnam stands in solidarity with Cuba, calling for the lifting of the unilateral blockade and embargo against Cuba and removing Cuba from the list of countries sponsoring terrorism.
The General Secretary was pleased with the positive development of Vietnam-Cuba relations. He agreed with the cooperation proposals of the President of the Cuban National Assembly in areas of both sides' strengths and needs, and suggested that the two countries continue to maintain exchanges and visits at all levels, enhance cooperation between the National Assembly and Government of the two countries, and enhance people-to-people exchanges and cooperation between sectors and localities.
The President of the Cuban National Assembly highly appreciated Vietnam's international position and role, expressed his impression of its strong development and believed that Vietnam will continue to achieve its set goals.
Mr. Esteban Lazo Hernánde once again affirmed that General Secretary To Lam's visit to Cuba is a great source of encouragement and support for Cuba in difficult circumstances.
The President of the Cuban National Assembly informed that the leaders of the Cuban Party and State regularly direct the implementation of the agreements reached and take specific measures to help remove difficulties in economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.
He affirmed the solidarity and special affection of the Cuban Party, Government and people towards Vietnam, thanking them for their support and assistance to the Cuban people. He hoped that the two countries would strengthen and promote cooperation, in which political and diplomatic relations are the core, promote delegation exchanges at all levels, enhance experience exchange and cooperation between the Government, the National Assembly and localities.
Receiving the President of the Cuban National Assembly, President Luong Cuong warmly welcomed Mr. Esteban Lazo Hernánde to return to Vietnam just two months after the state visit to Cuba by General Secretary and President To Lam.
The President believes that Cuba will continue to steadfastly overcome difficulties and challenges and achieve new achievements in the cause of protecting, building and developing the socialist country.
The Vietnamese State leaders congratulated Cuba on achieving an important victory when the United Nations General Assembly on October 30 voted to pass a resolution demanding the US end its blockade and embargo against Cuba with a majority of votes in favor.
Vietnam wishes to deepen and further enhance the effectiveness of its cooperative relations with Cuba in all fields, making the most of the strengths of both sides, in the context of celebrating the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2025.
National Assembly Chairman Esteban Lazo Hernánde affirmed that Cuba always respects, remembers, and appreciates the solidarity, companionship, sincere support, and practical assistance of Vietnam, especially in rice trade and food security, agricultural production development, investment cooperation, etc.
Cuba is very interested in exchanging and learning from Vietnam's rich experience in the process of eliminating economic shortcomings and overcoming difficulties and challenges.
The two sides agreed to actively and effectively implement high-level commitments and agreements; and continue to closely coordinate and support each other at international organizations and multilateral forums.
