On January 14, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping exchanged New Year greetings as the people of Vietnam and China prepare to celebrate the Lunar New Year 2023.
In their congratulatory letters, the two General Secretaries emphasized the key significance of 2022 for the development of each country and the relationship between the two Parties and the two countries of Vietnam and China, with the Vietnamese Party and people achieving many great achievements in implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Congress and the event of the Communist Party of China successfully organizing the 20th National Congress.
The top leaders of the two parties and two countries especially appreciated the historical stature and milestone significance of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's official visit to China, including the two sides issuing a "Joint Statement on continuing to promote and further deepen the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership", which is an important foundation and long-term strategic orientation to promote the sustainable, healthy and stable development of the relationship between the two parties and two countries in the coming time.

General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping emphasized that China always considers Vietnam a priority direction in its neighborly foreign policy, hoping that the two sides will actively implement the results of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's official visit to China, continuously consolidate political trust and traditional friendship, strengthen strategic development connections, deepen substantive cooperation in all fields, and enhance coordination on international and regional issues.
The two General Secretaries wished the Party, State and people of Vietnam and China a happy and peaceful New Year, and that the cause of building socialism in each country would continuously attain even greater new achievements.
