General Department of Environment: Coastal seawater in 4 Central provinces meets standards
Analyzing 9 to 16 seawater sample indicators in 4 provinces of Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Thua Thien - Hue, the General Department of Environment (Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment) assessed that all were within the permissible limits.
In order to assess the quality of coastal seawater in the four provinces of Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Thua Thien - Hue, the General Department of Environment has chaired and directed the Environmental Monitoring Center under the Ministry and localities to measure, collect samples and analyze to assess the changes in the quality of coastal seawater (serving swimming and water sports activities) at the beaches of the four provinces above.
On April 29, the Environmental Monitoring and Engineering Centers of the above provinces took coastal water samples to examine indicators such as: pH, DO, N-NH4, CN, Cr, total Cr, TSS, Pb, Fe, Cu, Zn... Each province took water samples at at least 3 locations, at most 6, concentrated at beaches, including Da Nhay, Nhat Le (Quang Binh); Trieu Lang, Cua Viet (Quang Tri); Lang Co, Canh Duong, Thuan An (Thua Thien - Hue)...

On May 1, the results of monitoring the quality of coastal seawater at the beaches of the four provinces above showed that they were all within the permissible limits of the National Technical Regulation on seawater quality, serving the purpose of water sports and entertainment. |
Previously, on April 28, the General Department of Environment advised the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to send an urgent dispatch on assessing the quality of coastal seawater in the four provinces of Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Thua Thien - Hue.
In particular, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment requires localities to regularly monitor, collect samples and analyze coastal seawater twice a day (morning and afternoon). At each location, two samples must be collected, one sample is performed by the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, and one sample is sent to the General Department of Environment.
Since early April, marine fish in four provinces of Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Thua Thien - Hue have died en masse, with a mass of about 70 tons. On April 27, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment identified two main groups of causes that could cause mass fish deaths: red tide and chemicals discharged by humans. The Prime Minister has directed ministries and branches to urgently find the exact cause of the fish deaths, and at the same time have policies to support and help fishermen consume fish; monitor sources of waste discharged into the sea...
