General Department of Taxation announced the completion of the arrangement of regional tax branches, Nghe An has 10 branches left.

On the morning of February 26, the General Department of Taxation held an online conference to announce the completion of the plan to establish regional tax branches in 63 provincial/municipal tax departments. Attending the conference were Comrade Nguyen Xuan Phuc - Politburo member, Prime Minister, leaders of ministries and branches, and representatives of 63 connecting points nationwide. Comrade Dinh Tien Dung - Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Finance chaired the conference.

Efforts to reduce 296 tax branches

In 2019, despite facing many difficulties and challenges, the tax sector nationwide has strived and excellently and comprehensively completed the assigned political tasks. Budget revenue managed by tax authorities reached VND 1,277,308 billion, equal to 109.3% of the estimate (equivalent to exceeding VND 109.2 trillion), up 11.3% over the same period in 2018. All 63/63 local tax departments completed and exceeded the assigned estimate.

Implementing Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW dated October 25, 2017 of the 12th Party Central Committee stipulating a number of issues on continuing to innovate and reorganize the apparatus of the political system to be streamlined and operate effectively and efficiently, Decision No. 520/QD-BTC dated April 13, 2018 of the Minister of Finance on approving the Plan to arrange and merge district, town and city tax branches into regional tax branches under the tax departments of provinces and centrally run cities, in recent times, the tax sector has carried out the consolidation of the organization of tax agencies at all levels from central to local levels in the direction of streamlining and operating effectively and efficiently.

The tax sector has focused on modernizing tax management and reforming tax administration under the direction of the Government; promoting the arrangement and organization of tax agencies at all levels, especially merging district tax departments into regional tax departments, streamlining the apparatus, reducing intermediate levels and internal management departments to concentrate resources on direct tax management departments; merging 565 tax departments under 63 tax departments to establish 267 regional tax departments, reducing 296 tax departments, leaving 415 tax departments.

In Nghe An, the organization of the tax authority was reorganized from 21 tax branches to 10 tax branches under the Nghe An Tax Department, starting operation from August 2019.

At the conference, a button-pressing ceremony took place to connect tax branches to the national tax management system.

Strive to complete budget collection of 1,254,300billion dong

Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc highly appreciated the process of reorganization and merger of the Ministry of Finance and the General Department of Taxation. With many synchronous solutions and the support of the entire political system from the central to local levels, the reorganization of the tax agencies at all levels and the consolidation of tax branches into regional tax branches have achieved good results, reaching the target 1 year ahead of schedule. The streamlined organizational structure of the tax sector and improved operational efficiency have made important contributions to the tax sector's continued successful implementation of the task of collecting state budget revenue in the past 2 years.

In 2020, the entire industry focused and made drastic efforts to exceed 5% of the assigned 2020 state budget collection task of VND 1,254,300 billion. The budget collection task is very heavy, requiring the entire tax industry to closely follow the direction of the National Assembly, the Government, and the Ministry of Finance, promote the spirit of striving, overcome challenges, and drastically implement measures to successfully complete the tax work task in 2020.

The Prime Minister also requested the tax sector to continue reviewing and rearranging the organizational structure, researching and proposing amendments to the functions and tasks of the General Department of Taxation to meet tax management requirements in new conditions and situations.
