Economic census from 1/3/2017
The Prime Minister has just signed a decision to organize the 2017 Economic Census.
The Census was conducted nationwide to collect basic information on economic establishments (except for individual establishments operating in agriculture, forestry, salt production and fishery collected in the 2016 Rural, Agricultural and Fishery Census), administrative agencies, Party, unions, associations, public service units, branches and representative offices of foreign enterprises, religious and belief establishments, and foreign non-governmental organizations licensed to operate in Vietnam.
The Census will serve to comprehensively assess the current situation and trends of socio-economic development of the country, serving as a basis for assessing the situation and formulating socio-economic development plans and policies of the Party and State.
The census is divided into two phases. Phase 1 collects information on production and business establishments belonging to the enterprise sector; branches and representative offices of foreign enterprises; administrative agencies, Party, unions, associations, public service units; foreign non-governmental organizations licensed to operate in Vietnam; and affiliated establishments of the above organizations. Time from March 1 to May 30, 2017.
Phase 2 collects information on religious and belief establishments; individual non-agricultural, forestry and fishery production and business establishments. Time from July 1-30, 2017.
Preliminary data released in December 2017. Official results released in Q3 2018.
The content of the General Census includes 6 groups of information: 1- General information about the establishment; 2- Information about labor and income of employees; 3- Information about production and business results; 4- Information about the application of information technology; 5- Information about the access to capital sources of enterprises; 6- Specialized information about enterprises.
