Total revenue of non-agricultural cooperatives reached 300 billion VND

(Baonghean) - Facing many common difficulties of the economy, the cooperative system also faces many challenges. In such circumstances, non-agricultural cooperatives in the province are constantly striving to maintain production, create jobs, increase income for workers and make positive contributions to the state budget.

Efforts to overcome difficulties

In Nghe An, there are currently 125 non-agricultural cooperatives operating in the following fields: Transportation, small-scale industry, environment, construction, trade, market cooperatives, with a total of 18,504 members. In recent years, non-agricultural cooperatives in the province have operated stably, bringing many benefits to members and creating new jobs for workers. In the first 7 months of 2016, the total revenue of non-agricultural cooperatives in the province was nearly 300 billion VND.

Among the non-agricultural cooperatives that operate effectively, the Trung Kien Shipbuilding Cooperative (Nghi Loc) stands out, having gone through many difficulties and challenges throughout its long history of operation, at times seemingly insurmountable in a fiercely competitive market mechanism. However, with the responsibility of a Craft Village Cooperative with a history of over 700 years, the Cooperative Management Board and its members join hands, make efforts, dare to think, dare to do to overcome difficulties.

The cooperative mobilized capital contributions from members to triple the capital to buy raw wood for shipbuilding, and at the same time increased the loan fund for members facing difficulties in production and business. Thanks to that, the cooperative's members always maintain stable jobs.

In the past 5 years, the cooperative has built 363 new ships with a revenue of 380 billion VND; in 2016, the revenue is expected to reach 120 billion VND, creating regular jobs for over 300 workers, with an average salary of 7.5 million VND/person/month.

CP Quyết Thành Industrial and Commercial Cooperative is also a unit that strives to develop in the market mechanism. With the business of producing super fine white stone powder, trading in construction materials, constructing civil works, transporting goods by road, and operating hotels and restaurants. In the first 6 months of 2016, it produced more than 7,000 tons of super fine white stone powder, consumed throughout the domestic market and the markets of Laos and Cambodia. Bringing the total revenue from production and business in the first 6 months of the year of the cooperative to 13.5 billion VND...

Ms. Ho Thi Tan - Chairwoman of the Board of Directors, General Director of CP Quyet Thanh Industrial and Commercial Cooperative shared: “The cooperative started from a low base, with little capital and limited human resources, and in difficult times of production and business, it is even more difficult to succeed. To create jobs and ensure stable income for 83 workers, with an average salary of 4.5 million VND/person/month; the cooperative's leadership is constantly researching, creating, and flexibly searching for markets, improving product quality, and creating trust with customers.

The cooperative continues to invest in technological innovation, expanding the white stone powder processing line using ball milling technology with a total cost of 6.5 billion VND. Putting this line into production, the products meet export standards.

Lessons in human resource utilization

In response to the development of the integrated economy, identifying the human factor as the decisive factor, some cooperatives have a mechanism to accept university graduates to work at the cooperative, enjoying preferential salary, bonus and full insurance regimes. Particularly at CP Quyết Thành Industrial and Commercial Cooperative, 30% of staff have university degrees or higher; 60% of workers and employees are professionally trained from intermediate and college levels, and are arranged in accordance with each individual's capacity.

Similarly, Song Lam Production and Service Cooperative is also a dynamic unit in the market mechanism, operating in many diverse industries including: Ship repair, seafood processing, construction of traffic, irrigation and civil works, mechanical repair, auto garage, gasoline trading, restaurant business, labor export linkage,...

The cooperative's organizational and management model is both compact and managed and operated. The cooperative has affiliated units operating under the Enterprise Law, including: Song Lam Production and Trading Company Limited, Song Lam Construction and Service Company Limited, Song Lam General Trade and Service Company Limited. With a total of 148 employees, the cooperative has 42 members. To increase its operational capacity in the new period, the cooperative has converted its operations under the 2012 Cooperative Law, increasing the capital contribution of each member from 50 million VND to 100 million VND. Currently, the cooperative has a capital contribution of 12 billion VND, of which 85% of members contribute capital of 150 million VND or more.

Mr. Le Thanh Ty - General Director of Song Lam Cooperative shared: "In 2015, the total revenue of the Cooperative reached 34.5 billion VND, contributing 850 million VND to the State budget. In 2016, Song Lam Production and Service Cooperative strives to achieve a revenue of 38.5 billion VND, contributing 1 billion VND to the State budget".
