General Director of Vietnam Online Television - STV makes fake press card
Mr. Nguyen Le Hai Thanh, General Director of Vietnam Online Television - STV, created and operated 12 unlicensed news aggregator sites to advertise and create fake press cards for company employees to use.
On September 13, the Department of Cultural, Information and Communications Security (A87), Ministry of Public Security, said it had transferred all documents and other evidence showing signs of law violations by Mr. Nguyen Le Hai Thanh, General Director of Vietnam Online Television Joint Stock Company - STV, to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Information and Communications to handle violations according to its authority.
Previously, through professional measures and denunciation sources, A87 identified many subjects using fake press cards and "reporter" cards to invite businesses to sign "media sponsorship contracts" and "brand honors"; many businesses and individuals built unlicensed general electronic information websites to profit from advertising...
Through the verification process, A87 worked and determined that Mr. Nguyen Le Hai Thanh created and used the general information website www.stv.net.vn and 12 other general information websites such as: tieudung24h, saosukien, phapluatvn, phongthuydoanhnhan... to post news and clips.
The above websites are all managed and censored by Mr. Nguyen Le Hai Thanh and have not been licensed to operate.
Notably, during its operation, the stv.net.vn website, due to Mr. Nguyen Le Hai Thanh's use of an automatic news posting tool, made mistakes and failed to censor content, leading to posting distorted information about currency exchange, television programs with distorted content from foreign subjects, and programs that violated television copyrights, etc.
Expanding the investigation, the authorities also discovered that Mr. Nguyen Le Hai Thanh had forged documents from many state agencies such as: press work cards of press agencies, "press licenses - vehicles cooperating in handling information hotline", "entry permits to the Ministry of Public Security gate"... for personal use and issued to a number of STV employees.
The police have recovered the above-mentioned fake documents and notified relevant units to coordinate in expanding the investigation.

Also according to A87, the number of media companies setting up general electronic information pages without permission to broadcast live TV on the Internet (YouTube, livestream, Facebook) is increasing, making it difficult to control content.
The above company's illegal activities are just some of the typical violations that need to be severely dealt with as a deterrent./.
