Egyptian President begins State visit to Vietnam

On September 6, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt Abdel Fattah Al Sisi will pay a State visit to Vietnam from September 6-7, 2017, at the invitation of President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Tran Dai Quang.

Accompanying President Abdel-Fatah El-Sisi were: Mr. Sameh Shoukry, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Lieutenant General Moustafa Sherif, Head of the Presidential Office; Ms. Sahar Nasr, Minister of Investment and International Cooperation; Dr. Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy; Mr. Tarek Kabil, Minister of Commerce and Industry; Dr. Hisham Arafat, Minister of Transport; Mr. Khaled Fawzy, Director of the Intelligence Service; Lieutenant General Mohamed Ahmed Zaky, Commander of the Republican Guard; Major General Abbas Kamel, Presidential Secretary; Mr. Youssef Kamal Botros Hanna, Egyptian Ambassador to Vietnam.

President Abdel-Fatah El-Sisi was born on November 19, 1954 in Egypt. Education: Master's degree from the Egyptian College of Officers and Staff (Egypt); Master's degree in Military Science from the College of Officers and Community Service Personnel (UK); Bachelor's degree in Military Science, Egyptian Military Academy.

Work history of President of the Arab Republic of Egypt Abdel-Fatah El-Sisi: From 1977 to 2011, he held many important positions in the Egyptian military such as Director of Intelligence, regional commander, and military attaché.

From 2011 to 2012, he was a member of the Supreme Council of the Egyptian Armed Forces; from 2012 to 2013, he was Minister of Defense and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. From 2013 to 2014, he was Deputy Prime Minister and Chief of the General Staff of the Egyptian Army. From 2014 to present, he is President of the Arab Republic of Egypt.

The State visit to Vietnam by the Egyptian President is of historic significance in the relationship between the two countries, marking the importance and desire to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam; making the cooperation between the two countries increasingly effective and extensive.

The visit is also an opportunity for the two sides to discuss measures to promote bilateral cooperation in various fields, including boosting economic, trade and investment cooperation; seeking cooperation opportunities in areas where the two countries have strengths such as trade, agriculture, culture and tourism; and discussing regional and international issues of mutual concern./.
