“We have a common problem with you, one might say, a problem, which is Ukraine. I know the Ukrainian people very well and all that is happening in Ukraine today, they do not deserve it,” Spniknik Belarus quoted Mr. Lukashenko as saying.
During a meeting with Andrea Victorin, head of the European Union representative office in Belarus, the Belarusian leader called on Brussels to help stabilize the Ukrainian crisis.
According to Mr. Lukashenko, the EU must be responsible for Kiev, which has chosen the European path of development, not the orientation of Belarus, Russia and the Eurasian Economic Union. At the same time, Mr. Lukashenko noted that the recent presidential and parliamentary elections in Ukraine have resolved the issues related to the country's government.
In April, Vladimir Zelensky became President of Ukraine, with more than 73% of voters voting for him. On July 22, Ukraine held extraordinary parliamentary elections. According to the latest data from the online election commission of the Servant of the People's CEC, after counting half of the ballots, Zelensky's party won about 43% of the votes.
