After the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Temer said he had requested bilateral meetings with the leaders of Spain, Italy, Japan and Saudi Arabia.

Mr. Temer will also go to China to attend the upcoming G20 Summit.

Brazil's El Universo newspaper quoted Mr. Temer as saying, "I will visit countries to show the world that we have legal and political stability," and reminded countries to always trust Brazil.

Brazil's new president also announced that he plans to focus on pension reform and unemployment issues amid nearly 12 million unemployed people in the country.

Mr. Temer has served as vice president of Brazil since 2011. In May 2016, after Ms. Rousseff was impeached by the Brazilian Senate due to her involvement in irregularities during the 2014 election, Mr. Temer was appointed to temporarily run the country.

After the voting results on August 31, Mr. Temer was officially elected President of Brazil until a new election will take place in 2019.
