Brazilian President Fined for Violating Mask Usage Regulations in Public
Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has been fined for violating a local government mandate to wear face masks in Sao Paulo.
The Sao Paulo state press office announced a fine of $110 for President Jair Bolsonaro for not wearing a mask in public.
Jair Bolsonaro went maskless on a motorcycle and later said from a truck that fully vaccinated people do not need to wear masks.
According to Mr. Jair Bolsonaro, those who oppose his proposal do so because they do not believe in science and if someone has been vaccinated, the virus will have no way to spread.
President Jair Bolsonaro was also fined by local authorities in another place last month for violating mask-wearing guidelines.
Currently only 12% of the population ofBrazilhave been vaccinated against Covid-19 and the country has recorded more than 17 million infections and more than 480,000 deaths./.
