The O Estado de Sao Paulo newspaper, citing sources, reported that authorities "feared" protesters would attempt to storm the Foreign Ministry headquarters in the capital, Brasilia. The presidential office declined to comment on the reports.

President Rousseff's government is facing the largest street protests in the South American country in 20 years, forcing her to cancel her planned visit to Japan next week.
Brazilian media, citing police and experts, estimate that at least 1 million people marched in 100 cities across the country of 194 million people.
On the evening of June 20th, security forces struggled to restore order in several cities, using tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse unruly crowds.
