President Donald Trump: There is a lot of progress in dialogue with North Korea
US President Donald Trump said he had positive discussions with Vice Chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea Kim Yong-chol, who is visiting the US.
The White House previously announced that President Trump will hold a second summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in late February, but will maintain sanctions against North Korea.
Speaking to reporters after the talks, President Trump said the two sides had made a lot of progress on the issue of denuclearization.

“We had a very positive meeting with North Korea. We have agreed on a date for the end of February and a location, but we will announce it later. Chairman Kim Jong Un is looking forward to it and so am I. We are making a lot of progress but can’t announce it yet. Things are going well,” President Trump said.
During his visit to the US, Mr. Kim Yong-chol also met with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and US Special Envoy for North Korea Stephen Biegun.
At their first summit in Singapore in June last year, US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un agreed to work toward complete denuclearization in exchange for security guarantees from the US. However, there has been little progress since then. The second summit between the US and North Korean leaders is expected to produce concrete steps toward complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
