Ethiopian President hosts welcoming ceremony and talks with President Tran Dai Quang
At the invitation of President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Mulatu Teshome, on August 23, President Tran Dai Quang and his wife, along with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, began a state visit to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
At exactly 2:00 p.m. on August 23, local time (6:00 p.m. the same day Hanoi time), President Tran Dai Quang and his wife, along with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, arrived at Bole International Airport, Addis Ababa, to begin a state visit to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.

The welcoming ceremony for President Tran Dai Quang and his wife and the high-ranking delegation of our country was solemnly held at Bole International Airport, Addis Ababa Capital.
At the airport to welcome President Tran Dai Quang, his wife and the delegation were President Mulatu Teshome and his wife along with many high-ranking officials of Ethiopia. Vietnamese Ambassador to Tanzania and Ethiopia Nguyen Kim Doanh, along with all officials and staff of the Embassy, were at the airport to welcome the delegation.
President Mulatu Teshome and his wife warmly welcomed President Tran Dai Quang and his wife at the foot of the plane's stairs; President Mulatu Teshome invited President Tran Dai Quang to step into the position of honor.
Along with that was the resounding sound of 21 cannon shots welcoming the first visit of the head of state of Vietnam to Ethiopia since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1976. Next, President Tran Dai Quang reviewed the Ethiopian Guard of Honor.
After introducing the officials of the two countries attending the welcoming ceremony, President Tran Dai Quang, his wife and President Mulatu Teshome and his wife watched a traditional Ethiopian dance welcoming the visiting guests.
On the same afternoon (evening of August 23, Hanoi time), at the Presidential Palace in the capital Addis Ababa, President Tran Dai Quang held talks with President Mulatu Teshome.
President Mulatu Teshome warmly welcomed President Tran Dai Quang and the high-ranking delegation on their state visit to Ethiopia, affirming that this is a particularly important political event because President Tran Dai Quang is the first head of state of Vietnam to visit Ethiopia since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1976. President Tran Dai Quang expressed his joy at visiting Ethiopia for the first time and thanked the Ethiopian leaders and people for the warm and respectful welcome given to the delegation.

The two sides discussed the situation in each country and the region, as well as directions and measures to further enhance bilateral cooperation. President Tran Dai Quang congratulated Ethiopia on its impressive development in recent times, making Ethiopia one of the models in Africa for economic development, with an average growth rate of 10% continuously over the past 10 years, significantly improving people's lives as well as opening up many prospects for cooperation with countries around the world in general and Vietnam in particular.
The President highly appreciated Ethiopia's role and active contributions to the African Union as well as within the United Nations framework such as peacekeeping activities, ensuring security and stability in the region and the world. Ethiopian President Mulatu Teshome highly appreciated the first visit of a high-ranking Vietnamese leader to Ethiopia and believed that the visit would create new momentum for the two countries' cooperation to develop deeply and extensively in the coming time.
The President expressed that the Ethiopian people in general and the President himself in particular always admire the Vietnamese people in their past struggle for national independence as well as the great achievements in building and developing the country today. Ethiopian President Mulatu Teshome expressed his special impression of Vietnam's rise to become one of the countries with rapid and stable economic growth in recent times and the world's leading exporter of agricultural products such as rice, coffee, etc. The President hoped that Vietnam would share its experience in economic development, especially in areas where Vietnam has experience and high qualifications such as agriculture, aquaculture, etc.
The two sides agreed that Vietnam and Ethiopia have a good traditional friendship and this is an important foundation to promote economic, trade and investment relations, especially in areas where both sides have potential and demand; agreed to create favorable conditions for businesses of the two countries to invest and do business in each other's markets; establish appropriate payment methods to support businesses, strengthen market surveys, share policy information; consider nominating Honorary Consuls to create more connection channels and promptly exploit economic cooperation opportunities. The two sides agreed to increase the exchange of delegations at all levels, promote cooperation between the National Assembly, localities and people-to-people exchanges, and promote cultural and sports exchanges to enhance mutual understanding.
On this occasion, President Tran Dai Quang respectfully invited President Mulatu Teshome to pay an official visit to Vietnam and the President happily accepted.

After the talks, President Tran Dai Quang and President Mulatu Teshome witnessed the exchange of cooperation documents including: Visa exemption agreement for diplomatic and official passport holders, Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Ministry of Planning and Investment of Vietnam and the Ethiopian Investment Commission.
