South Korean President may attend trilateral summit with US-North Korea leaders
(Baonghean.vn) - South Korean President Moon Jae-in may travel to Singapore to attend a three-way summit with his US and North Korean counterparts next month. According to a government official in Seoul on May 28, this possibility depends on the outcome of ongoing discussions between Washington and Pyongyang.

The trip, if it happens, would take place around June 12 - the time when US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un plan to hold a bilateral summit - an official from the South Korean Presidential Office (Blue House) revealed.
“The discussions have just begun, so we are still waiting to see how they will go, but depending on the outcome of the discussions, President Moon may join President Trump and Chairman Kim in Singapore,” the unnamed source told Yonhap news agency.
A three-way summit was initially proposed by Mr Moon and the North Korean leader when they held their first meeting at the border village of Panmunjom on April 27.
On May 27, Mr. Moon once again expressed his hope to hold such a meeting, just one day after he had a second surprise meeting with Mr. Kim.
“If the North Korea-US summit is successful, I would like to see efforts to formally end the Korean War through a three-way summit involving South Korea, North Korea and the US,” he said at a press conference.
The Blue House earlier said the government in Seoul was ready to study the possibility of a three-way summit after the successful US-North Korea summit, but nothing had been decided or even discussed between the countries.
The official briefed on the matter to Yonhap noted that a three-way summit in Singapore would largely depend on the outcome of preparatory talks for the U.S.-North Korea summit, saying Moon's visit to Singapore would likely be decided before the U.S.-North Korea summit begins.
Mr. Trump previously announced that a US team led by former US Ambassador to Seoul Sung Kim had arrived in North Korea to “arrange preparations for the summit between Kim Jong-un and myself.”
The three-way summit, if held, would likely be aimed at providing a security guarantee to North Korea in exchange for its denuclearization.
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has said his country has no reason to possess nuclear weapons if and when its security and safety are guaranteed.
