On November 3, just days before the midterm congressional elections that are expected to change the balance of power in the US in the next two years, President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump conducted their final campaign rallies in many states considered battlegrounds.

President Biden kicked off his Western campaign with a trip to a community college in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he spoke about student debt relief and White House policies that he said have “brought great progress to the country.”

The next stops on the campaign trail are California on the evening of November 3 and Illinois on November 4. Biden will travel to Pennsylvania on November 5, where he will attend a campaign event with former President Barack Obama before heading to Maryland on November 7.

Meanwhile, former President Trump campaigned for 5 days (from November 3 to 7) in 4 battleground states including Iowa, Florida, Pennsylvania and Ohio. Before that, he also participated in many campaigns in Pennsylvania and Ohio to call for voters' support for Republican candidates in the race for Senate seats.

The US political scene is heating up as the midterm congressional elections are just four days away. In addition to the race for the 118th Congress, the election also includes a series of re-elections for state governors and local government leaders.

The midterm elections are considered a nationwide referendum on the performance of President Biden and the Democratic Party in general over the past two years. The election results will also signal the direction of US domestic and foreign policies for at least the next two years.

The US Constitution stipulates that the President's term lasts 4 years, the House of Representatives' term lasts 2 years, and the Senate's term lasts 6 years. Therefore, every 2 years, in the middle of the President's term, voters across the US will re-elect all 435 seats in the House of Representatives and 1/3 of the 100 seats in the Senate. The 2022 election will take place on November 8 to re-elect all 435 seats in the House of Representatives; 35/100 seats in the Senate and 36 state governors, and a series of local government elections.
