"Maybe that wasn't tough enough," President Donald Trump told reporters alongside Vice President Mike Pence, in response to North Korea's earlier strong warnings as "nonsense."
President Trump also criticized North Korea for threatening to attack the United States and its allies. In addition, President Trump said China could "do more" to pressure North Korea to end its nuclear weapons program.
Earlier, on August 9, the US President issued a stern warning to North Korea, saying Pyongyang would face "fire and fury" over its missile program.
On the same day, North Korea announced that it was studying a plan to attack the US Pacific island of Guam with the Hwasong-12 intermediate-range strategic missile. On August 10, North Korea announced in detail that its military is planning to fire four intermediate-range ballistic missiles at Guam in mid-August.
In an English-language announcement, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said the missiles would fly over the airspace of Japan's Shimane, Hiroshima and Koichi provinces, with a journey of 3,356.7 km and land about 30 to 40 km from Guam./.
