US President Donald Trump is coming to Vietnam
On July 8, continuing bilateral contacts on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Hamburg, Germany, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc met with Chinese President Xi Jinping and United States President Donald Trump.

In late May, during Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s official visit to the United States, the two leaders emphasized that many opportunities are opening up in the Vietnam-US relationship, in which political, diplomatic, economic and trade relations are increasingly being strengthened. The two sides issued a Joint Statement on strengthening the Comprehensive Partnership between Vietnam and the United States.
During the meeting with President Xi Jinping, the two leaders affirmed that peace and cooperation are the main trends in international relations as well as bilateral relations; and agreed to maintain friendly, cooperative and stable relations.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc wished the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China great success; affirmed that Vietnam highly appreciated the core leadership role of Chinese President Xi Jinping and attached great importance to further promoting cooperation between the two countries.
The Head of Government and leaders of Vietnam look forward to welcoming Chinese President Xi Jinping to visit Vietnam and attend the APEC Summit in Da Nang.

Vietnam with Indonesia, India
On July 8, on behalf of President Tran Dai Quang, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc respectfully invited Indonesian President Joko Widodo to attend the APEC Summit in Da Nang in November 2017.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc thanked Indonesia for recently releasing and repatriating 695 Vietnamese fishermen and asked Indonesia to handle the fisheries issue in the spirit of humanity, ASEAN solidarity and the Vietnam-Indonesia strategic partnership. At the same time, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said that the two sides need to continue to promote the early conclusion of negotiations on the delimitation of the exclusive economic zones between the two countries.
On the Indonesian side, President Joko Widodo thanked the invitation to attend the APEC Summit, affirmed that he would attend this important meeting and pledged to support Vietnam in successfully organizing APEC Year 2017; expressed his wish that the two sides would soon push for the early completion of negotiations on the delimitation of the Exclusive Economic Zone; and agreed with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc's proposal on humane treatment of Vietnamese fishermen.

Meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc was delighted and welcomed the leaders of India and the BJP Party to visit Vietnam under the "Honored Guest Program" in 2017 on the occasion of the two countries celebrating the 45th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations and the 10th anniversary of establishing the Strategic Partnership.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc suggested that India limit and gradually remove trade barriers, create favorable conditions for Vietnam's import and export goods, and strive to bring two-way trade turnover to 15 billion USD by 2020; at the same time, he affirmed that the Vietnamese Government is ready to create more favorable conditions for large Indian companies and corporations to invest and do business in Vietnam.
The Vietnamese Government leader affirmed that Vietnam supports India's "Act East" policy and emphasized that Vietnam will continue to contribute to further strengthening the ASEAN-India strategic partnership.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his great importance in further promoting the India-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership; agreed on the need to increase delegation exchanges at all levels on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations and 10th anniversary of the strategic partnership between the two countries; highly appreciated Vietnam's role in coordinating ASEAN-India relations; and affirmed that Vietnam is an important pillar in India's "Act East" policy.

Vietnam - EU Comprehensive Cooperation
At the meeting with the President of the European Commission and the President of the European Council, the two sides agreed to further promote the Vietnam-EU comprehensive partnership and cooperation, maintain regular delegation exchanges, especially high-level delegations. Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc asked the EU to soon complete the legal review and officially sign the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), and provide technical support to Vietnam to effectively implement the EVFTA.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc thanked the EU for effectively supporting Vietnam in overcoming the consequences of drought and natural disasters; and asked the EU to continue to have specific programs and projects to help Vietnam implement its commitments under the 2015 Paris Agreement on climate change.
The European Union (EU) leaders emphasized that the EU attaches great importance to promoting relations with Vietnam, considering Vietnam a responsible partner in the context of the current unpredictable world situation; highly appreciates Vietnam's role in Southeast Asia and in ASEAN; and agrees with Vietnam to speed up the legal review process to soon officially sign the Vietnam - EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).

On the same day, at a meeting with the WHO Director-General, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc congratulated Mr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on being elected as WHO Director-General with a high number of votes; emphasized Vietnam's achievements in health and wished to further promote cooperation between Vietnam and WHO to better serve the goal of public health care and achieve the SDGs.
Thanking the active cooperation of the Vietnamese Government and health system, the WHO Director-General praised Vietnam's efforts and important achievements in improving the quality of health care and public health; affirming that Vietnam is one of the successful examples in the health sector.
Leaders of countries and international organizations also highly appreciated Vietnam's role in the region, expressing their belief that APEC Vietnam 2017 will be a great success. Regarding the East Sea issue, leaders of Indonesia, India and the EU shared their views with Vietnam on the importance of maintaining peace, stability, security, safety and freedom of navigation and aviation in the East Sea, and resolving disputes by peaceful means on the basis of international law and the 1982 UNCLOS.
