US President: The Israeli-Palestinian peace agreement is very uncertain.

According to Reuters, in an interview published on March 21, US President Barack Obama said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's rejection of a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict ahead of the elections had made it "very difficult to find a path" toward serious negotiations to resolve the issue.

In an interview with the Huffington Post, President Obama mentioned his phone call with Netanyahu on March 19, two days after the Israeli leader was re-elected.

Obama said: "I have expressed our continued belief that a two-state solution is the only way forward for Israel's long-term security, if it is to remain a democracy and a Jewish state. And I have said that with his pre-election statements, it will be very difficult to find a path where people genuinely believe that negotiations are possible."

President Obama also expressed displeasure with Netanyahu's election-day comments, in which he warned his supporters that "crowds" of Arab voters were going to the polls.

The US President declared: "...Israeli democracy is based on the premise that all people in the country are treated equally and fairly... If this is lost, I believe it will not only give an excuse to those who do not believe in the Jewish state... but will also destroy the image of democracy in this country."

Also in the interview, President Obama expressed optimism that a nuclear agreement with Iran could be reached in the next few weeks.
