Mr. Putin was unable to personally greet the Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly on the eve of the opening ceremony of the 137th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union due to the crowd of delegates attending the forum surrounding him.
"Yesterday, Russian President Vladimir Putin wanted to come and greet you, but the men (in the delegation of representatives of the parliaments of the countries) surrounded him so tightly that he could not do it. Therefore, the President asked me to convey his best wishes to you," - Ms. Matvienko smiled and said to her Vietnamese counterpart when they met.
The Chairman of the Federation Council of Russia said that in this situation it is impossible to ensure gender equality, the need for which was repeatedly mentioned in his speech at the Conference.
“There is absolutely no gender equality here,” she said.
