Russian President Putin supports China's proposal to reform global governance
In his first official talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping today (September 2), Russian President Vladimir Putin described the relationship between the two countries as “strategic and at an unprecedentedly high level”.

Chinese President Xi Jinping hailed ties with Russia as a model of “good neighborliness and comprehensive strategic cooperation,” highlighting their shared history and commitment to safeguarding the legacy of World War II. Xi called Putin an old friend and said China-Russia ties had weathered the test of a volatile international situation.
According to RT, the Chinese President expressed his joy at meeting President Putin in Beijing in the context of the Russian leader's visit to China to attend the military parade marking the 80th anniversary of Japan's surrender in World War II. The Chinese leader emphasized the symbolic significance of the two countries attending each other's anti-fascist war commemorations. "This has become a good tradition in bilateral relations," Mr. Xi said, adding that the two countries remain determined to "protect the results of World War II and historical truth."
The two leaders pledged to strengthen cooperation in many areas, including security and science. China is currently Russia's largest trading partner.
During his four-day visit to China, President Putin voiced his support for Xi's proposal to reform global governance.
Both countries stressed their shared goal of creating a fairer international system free of US dominance, while condemning what they called Washington's "unilateral" sanctions and weaponization of trade.
According to CNN, the meeting of Mr. Putin and Mr. Xi at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing was the latest manifestation of unity between the two powerful leaders, as Russia ignored pressure from the West to end the conflict in Ukraine and the Chinese president proposed reform of world governance at a time when US President Donald Trump's foreign policy is upsetting the globe.
