Russian President orders surprise inspection of Central Military District
According to AFP, the Russian Defense Ministry said on September 7 that President Vladimir Putin had ordered a surprise inspection of combat readiness of soldiers in the Central Military District.

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that on orders from President Putin, Russian troops in the Central Military District will be placed on full combat readiness from 9:30 a.m. (06:30 GMT).
The exercise will last until September 12, with the participation of both paratroopers and aircraft from other military regions.
Russia has recently stepped up its assessment of its military's strength by carrying out surprise combat readiness checks of units from the Arctic to the Far East.
