The Russian president orders a surprise inspection of the Central Military District.
According to AFP, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced on September 7 that President Vladimir Putin had ordered a surprise inspection of the combat readiness of troops in the Central Military District.

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced that, on orders from President Putin, Russian troops in the Central Military District would be placed on full combat readiness from 9:30 a.m. (6:30 a.m. GMT).
The exercise will last until September 12th, with the participation of both paratroopers and aircraft from other military districts.
Russia has recently stepped up its assessment of military strength by conducting surprise readiness tests of units from the Arctic to the Far East.
