Mr Poroshenko noted that “the occupation of the Sea of Azov has significant economic consequences”.
"We cannot accept this. Neither we nor the European Union," the Ukrainian president said, noting that this also concerned the United States.
According to him, passage through the Kerch Strait "is blocked even for ships flying EU flags".
"In this situation, Russian ships must also be banned from entering European and American ports," the president said.
Previously, former US ambassador to Ukraine, Mr. John Herbst, proposed banning Russian ships from Azov sea ports from entering European and US ports.
