According to RIA Novosti, the Kremlin has carefully prepared for this inauguration according to tradition. However, according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, it will have certain nuances.

The inauguration ceremony will take place at 11:45 (Moscow time), and will be broadcast live on Russia's leading television and radio channels.

The ceremony marks the beginning of a new political cycle in Russia. After the inauguration, the current ministers will transfer power. Members of the old Cabinet will continue to carry out their duties until a new government is formed.

A day earlier, President Putin held his final meeting with members of the Government to thank them for their service to the country over the years.

The Russian President said that one political cycle ends, another begins, but work for the interests of Russia, the Russian people and all other peoples of the Russian Federation does not stop.

He reiterated that the formation of a new government would take place in the coming period and would instruct that everything necessary would be done to ensure that the work of the executive branch was not suspended during this period.

The Russian government, headed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, began working on January 16, 2020. According to Russian law, the government will resign on the day of the president's inauguration.

The President will then appoint the Prime Minister once the candidate is approved by the State Duma. Deputy Prime Ministers and Ministers will also be appointed once these candidates are approved by the State Duma.

However, the posts of Interior Minister, Emergencies Minister, Defense Minister, Foreign Minister and Justice Minister will be appointed according to a different procedure. The President will appoint these positions after consulting with the Federation Council (upper house) of Russia.

Vladimir Putin first became President of Russia in 2000. In 2004, he continued to lead for the next term.

In 2008, Mr. Putin did not participate in the election because the Russian Constitution at that time did not allow the current head of state to run for election three times in a row. In May 2008, Mr. Putin took over as Prime Minister of Russia.

Mr. Putin once again became President of Russia in 2012. And since then, he continued to win the next elections in 2018, 2024.

The results of the Russian presidential election held from March 15-17, 2024 showed that Mr. Vladimir Putin won a record number of votes with 87.28%.
