President Putin discussed the situation in Ukraine and Syria with Mr. Trump

Russian President Vladimir Putin said he discussed the situation in Ukraine and Syria, counter-terrorism and cyber security at his first meeting with US President Donald Trump.

"I had a long conversation with the US President. A lot of issues arose about Ukraine and Syria, about other issues, as well as some bilateral issues. We also talked about the fight against terrorism and cyber security," Putin said at a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

The meeting between Mr. Putin and Mr. Trump lasted 2 hours and 20 minutes.
