President Putin: The Northern Fleet was and will be the most powerful in the world
Russia's Northern Fleet has been and will be the most powerful, Russian President Vladimir Putin said while reading a message to the Federal Assembly.

"Our Northern Fleet has been and will be the most powerful fleet in the world," the president said.
He noted that Russia has launched a number of large-scale industrial projects in the Arctic, meeting the most stringent environmental standards.
The president said that Russia is strengthening its military infrastructure in the Arctic to ensure the country's interests in the strategically important region.
"We are strengthening our scientific, transport, maritime and military infrastructure to firmly ensure Russia's interests in the strategically important region," Putin said.
