President Putin wants to strengthen the Russian fleet's position in strategic ocean areas
Russian President Vladimir Putin said it is necessary to strengthen the position of the Russian fleet in strategically important areas of the world's oceans.

According to RIA Novosti, at a meeting on shipbuilding industry issues on June 26, Russian President Vladimir Putin said it was necessary to strengthen the position of the Russian fleet in strategically important areas of the world's oceans.
“As you know, the Basic Principles of State Policy in the field of naval activities until 2030 provide clear directions, namely the comprehensive development of the Russian Navy, including its naval, aviation and coastal components, base infrastructure and strengthening of its positions in strategically important areas, in order to increase its qualitative combat potential,” President Putin said.
President Putin highlighted the need to modernize shipbuilding enterprises to avoid disruptions in the supply of components. He noted that many manufacturers of components, including steam turbines, electronics, diesel engines and others, are currently “overloaded.”
“To avoid supply shortages and delays in ship deliveries, enterprises will have to quickly modernize and increase production volumes of equipment and components,” President Putin said.
President Putin said that shipbuilding is a complex industry; it is necessary to have a planning vision until at least 2050. According to him, this “will help not only to calculate and ensure the mass production of current types of ships, but also to ensure the transition to the next generation of naval equipment at a higher technical and tactical level”.
In addition, the Russian leader also proposed to discuss the task of equipping ships with additional firepower. Orders for warships must correspond to the optimal load of shipyards.
