President Putin: Russia does not need nuclear weapons to win
Speaking at the plenary session of the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) 2024, President Putin confidently affirmed that Russia does not need nuclear weapons to win, because Russia has its own identity.

According to RIA Novosti, President Putin delivered a speech at the plenary session of the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum 2024 on June 7. The most pressing topic was the Ukrainian conflict.
Assessing the situation in neighboring Ukraine, President Putin said, “it seems that we are dealing with abuse of power, and loss of legitimacy.”
Answering a question about the situation on the front, President Putin emphasized that the important thing is not the speed of completing the task, but the preservation of the lives of Russian soldiers. Therefore, Mr. Putin affirmed that there is enough personnel and “there is no need to mobilize”. In addition, the Russian leader added that many people voluntarily signed contracts with the Armed Forces, 160,000 people since the beginning of the year.
In Ukraine, on the other hand, President Putin said Kiev could not do its job without a broad mobilization and lowering the age threshold. “This is an American condition,” President Putin said.

Referring to the possibility of using weapons of mass destruction, President Putin reiterated Russia's nuclear doctrine.
“Everything is written there,” President Putin said: “It can be used in exceptional cases, when there is a threat to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.”
The President expressed his belief that Russia does not need nuclear weapons to win, as Russia always has its own identity.
In addition, President Putin stressed that Russia has the right to provide military assistance to friendly countries in response to the West's arms injection into Ukraine. However, this has not yet happened.
Regarding the topic of relations with Europe. In particular, many questions were raised about whether Russia would lose its “European cultural genes” due to its “orientation to the East”.
President Putin noted that Western European countries are now losing their identity: they are being poisoned by “global liberals”. Meanwhile, Russia is becoming “the center of traditional European values”.
And Mr. Putin said that Russia had begun to turn to the East long before the events in Ukraine took place, for economic reasons and because a new world center was being formed there: “This is an inevitable development of events,” President Putin concluded, giving an example: currently the total GDP of the BRICS countries is larger than the total GDP of the G7 countries./.
