(Baonghean) - On August 15, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a congratulatory message to North Korea on Liberation Day (August 15), commemorating the 73rd anniversary of Korea's liberation from Japanese rule in 1945.

In the telegram, President Putin expressed his readiness to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

“On the occasion of the Liberation Day of the DPRK, I would like to extend my most sincere congratulations to the country and people of Korea. Russia has always highly appreciated the cooperation between the Red Army and the freedom-loving Korean people who fought for independence,” the Russian President wrote in a telegram.

President Putin affirmed that he will soon meet with North Korea to discuss key issues in bilateral relations and important regional issues.

The Russian president also expressed satisfaction with the “friendly and constructive” relations between the two countries, and believed that Moscow and Pyongyang would “continue to develop mutually beneficial cooperation, including the realization of trilateral programs involving Russia, the DPRK and the ROK.”

However, the specific time for this meeting has not been mentioned yet. Previously, Mr. Putin invited Mr. Kim Jong-un to visit Russia at the Eastern Economic Forum held in Vladivostok on September 11-13.

Some analysts say the Forum is an ideal place for the two leaders to meet and discuss urgent and complex issues.

Not only that, the participation of leaders of many countries and world economic entrepreneurs at this Forum is a good opportunity for the North Korean leader to express his views, including attracting investment to North Korea.

However, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said leader Kim Jong-un has not yet confirmed his attendance at the Forum.

There are many predictions that President Putin and leader Kim Jong-un may also meet on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of North Korea (September 9), with the participation of many high-level delegations from countries with special friendly relations with North Korea.
