President Putin delighted with the Russian team's victory
(Baonghean.vn) - On June 20, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that President Vladimir Putin could not watch Russia's surprise victory over Egypt at the 2018 World Cup because he was on a plane, but emphasized that the Russian leader reacted "very positively, like our entire country."

“Unfortunately, he did not watch the match, as he was on a plane from Minsk to Moscow. However, as soon as he got off the plane, he was informed of the match result,” Peskov told reporters.
The Kremlin representative emphasized: “This is a very precious victory for all of us, very joyful. Of course, the president is also very happy.”
Russia defied critics and low expectations by easily defeating Egypt 3-1 on June 19, securing a place in the knockout stages of a World Cup for the first time since the Soviet Union in 1986.
