President Trump officially notified Congress of the US withdrawal from WHO
US President Donald Trump has formally notified Congress of his intention to terminate cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO), Democratic Senator Bob Menendez said on Twitter.

Mr. Bob Menendez did not approve of the US withdrawal from WHO during the Covid-19 pandemic, calling the White House leader's decision chaotic and inconsistent.
"That will not protect the interests of the United States nor the lives of the American people. The American people will still get sick, and America will be alone," Mr. Menendez emphasized.
The United States has also notified UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres of its withdrawal from the WHO, said Stephane Dujarric, the Secretary-General's spokesman. The US decision will take effect on July 6, 2021.
In mid-April, Mr. Trump suspended funding to the WHO, saying that the organization "failed in its primary responsibility and must be held accountable for the spread of the Corona virus."
The US president also called the WHO a puppet of China and once again claimed that the organization was weak and did not provide timely information about the coronavirus.
On May 29, he announced that the United States was ending its cooperation with the organization.
