The Independent newspaper reported that there are at least three models predicting that Mr. Trump will be re-elected in the 2020 US presidential election. These models are based on several factors, including economic data and the advantage of incumbency.
The models are the result of a synthesis by Steven Rattner, who served as an adviser to the Treasury Department under President Barack Obama.
According to Mr. Rattner, one of the most reliable models was published by Professor Ray Fair of Yale University. This expert combined factors such as in-office advantage and GDP (gross domestic product) growth rate to predict who could win the presidential election.
Previously, this model also correctly predicted that Mr. Obama would win in 2008 and be re-elected president in 2012.
However, the model is not perfect because it does not take into account some of the peculiarities of President Trump himself.
In addition to Professor Fair's model, Mark Zandi, director of Moody's Analytics (a branch of Moody's Group), has also analyzed a number of models showing that President Trump could win in 2020. An analysis of the Electoral College by Donald Luskin of Trend Macrolytics concluded that President Trump is likely to be re-elected.
Despite his controversial decisions, US President Donald Trump is running for re-election in 2020 and he has many advantages to win.
So far, 24 people from the Democratic Party have announced their candidacy. Experts assess that former US Vice President Joe Biden will be the only Democratic presidential candidate capable of defeating President Trump in the race.
