President Trump speaks on the phone with Venezuela's "interim president"
On January 30, US President Donald Trump had a phone call with Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido, who declared himself interim president of the South American country last week.

According to White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders, President Trump and Mr. Guaido agreed to maintain regular contact "to support Venezuela's path to stability."
In addition, Mr. Guaido said the White House boss fully supported the "democratic efforts" of the opposition, while pledging to provide humanitarian aid and recognize Mr. Guaido's government.
Meanwhile, Brazilian Vice President Hamilton Mourao said that opposition leader Juan Guaido has also asked Brazil for humanitarian aid.
Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido's representative in the United States, Carlos Vecchio, will meet with US officials on January 30 to plan the takeover of assets of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro's government.
Speaking to reporters at a press conference, Mr. Carlos Vecchio said he would meet with White House officials on January 30 and possibly with the US Treasury Department on January 31 to discuss how to gain control of Venezuela's assets./.
