President Trump hopes to win the Nobel Peace Prize in 2026
US President Donald Trump said he had ended eight wars in eight months, including ones that seemed "unsolvable".

According to TASS news agency on October 16, US President Donald Trump said he hopes to receive the Nobel Peace Prize in 2026.
"I don't think there's ever been an American president who stopped a war. I stopped eight wars in eight months. Do I get a Nobel Prize? No." - President Donald Trump said on October 15 during a meeting at the White House.
"Can you believe it? Even I can't believe it. But I think next year will be even better," Mr. Trump added.
Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado, who was awarded the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize last week, on October 15 called for more US support to stop what she described as “a war” against the country.
Ms Machado also said the US leader "absolutely" deserved his own Nobel Peace Prize, because of "the incredible events that are taking place in the world today", referring to President Trump's efforts to broker peace in the Middle East.
President Donald Trump has repeatedly stressed that he believes he deserves the prize for ending seemingly "unsolvable" wars during his second term, including the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
Mr Trump said he spoke to Ms Machado after learning about the Nobel, and said she was “very nice”. The Venezuelan opposition leader also publicly thanked Mr Trump on social media at the time “for his fierce support of our cause”.
