President Trump again mentioned the possibility of a government shutdown

Speaking to reporters at the White House, Mr. Trump said: "Whatever happens will happen. When it comes to border security, I'm willing to do anything. If we don't protect our borders, our country will cease to be a country, so I'm willing to do whatever needs to be done for border security."
The remarks came ahead of a meeting between President Trump and congressional leaders on the legislative agenda for the next few months, including increasing funding for the federal government to stay open past the September 30 deadline.
Earlier, in an interview with the Daily Caller published the same morning, President Trump said he did not like the idea of shutting down the government. He also said: "I myself or anyone else is not thinking about shutting down the country right now."
